drama/pronouns aside , i won't pay a cent or download it via gamepass because

- i cannot play FPS as i have motion sickeness , even if they add 3rd person in future patches i still wont play it
- characters are not attractive to me ( yes , its just personal taste )
- i already made up my mind to support State of Decay 3 even if it has DEI , the $ profits still goes back to microsoft

I bought Grounded and was quite happy with everything even though there is DEI , the game is really fun and i like the character

Going forward , the game Grounded should be my last game purchase from Obsidian Entertainment

3rd person is in the game but it looks like an afterthought more than anything. Some of the worst 3rd person combat animations I have seen in a while.

From what I’ve seen it looks very much like a game I’ll enjoy.

I don’t care about pronouns in the character creator. It’s become the norm for Wester games, so whatever. Sometimes you have to seperate the art the artist. Plenty of musicians, artists, actors, comedians, etc that I don’t align with politically, but I still enjoy their output.

IF however it has Veilguard level writing and characters then, yeah I’m out. Haven’t seen that yet, so fingers crossed.

I'd list Obsidian as one of my all-time favorite developers, and I don't see any traces of Obsidian on this project. It was always going to be an uphill battle to get my attention, let alone my $70. Considering many people who are eligible for performance bonuses for this product truly hate me and want me unemployed and impoverished, I don't think I'm going to give them any money. I mean, based on previews we've seen, the absolute best-case scenario for this thing is a solid 7.

Sure I’ll give it a shot if the reviews are good. If I stopped playing or purchasing something made by people I disagree with then I’d probably be left with very little to play. Personally I find boycotting a product over what somebody said on social media a bit silly, but to each their own.

Agreed. The only thing that has kept it on my radar is Obsidian. Every gameplay video has looked jank and cartoony af. This is their first game with Microsoft funding and no overlook, and I want to give them a chance, but good god it looks awful.

Doesn't help that The Outer Worlds was one of the worst games of this type I've played.

Each to their own but fuck off with ramming it down our throats. Plenty of games that don't pander to Resetera, they can have my cold hard cash instead.

I will try it at some point, but from everything I've seen of it so far I don't expect to like it.
And if anyone was tempted to ask I'll say that NO, it's not related to the recent "drama", but to perplexities I already had about the game (the way it looks, its hideous UI, some of the things the devs said you can and can't do. etc).

That said, having some of the people in charge of the game being fucking insufferable on Twitter isn't exactly helping Obsidian's case here...

I'm open minded so i'm willing to give the game a chance, however the combat from what i've seen lacks impact and it feels weightless in a sense. That's a problem with most 1st person combat games though sadly.
