Ok 7 hours in and i havent even been to the starting city yet, or done any main missions. Because of that i cant comment on the story as i have just been exploring the map. This game is all about the combat and exploration, which is fantastic.
Graphically parts of the game look stunning, other parts not so much. Def a budget or manpower thing with that i guess.
The variety in the world is great though, and my 7 hours has only been in a smallish part of the map.
Inevitably, especially with the close launch window, people are going to compare this to KCD2, and imo KCD2 has a lot more mechanics, obviously a lot more grounded in realism, and as a pure RPG it has more depth (although like i said i havent done any story yet). So it kind of depends what you're into as Avowed has way more variety in its world, better combat (some poeple love the combat in KCD, some hate it, i dont really like it myself), and obviously has all the fantasy and magic elemants that KCD2 doesnt have.
I like both games, and i actually feel that although they are both rpg's,they are different enough to live together, and to even do parallel playthoughs, swicthing between games which is what i will be doing.
So for me, KCD2 has more rpg depth and mechanics, while Avowed has more variety in its world and enemies, and better combat and loot. Traversal also feels great in Avowed, it fact it reminds me of Dying Light a lot.
Ofcourse with the whole pronoun thing, and console warring, Avowed is going to get a lot of hate, but if you are a fan of Elder Scrolls style fantasy rpg's, Avowed scratches that itch imo.
I'd give the game so far a 8/10, although like is said most of my 7 hours has just been exploring and doing a few side missions. I cant really comments on the story or quality of the main missions.
