Please be real, please be real, please be real!!!

Can you imagine what Nintendo could cook up with a generational leap. So needed!

I think a lot of the people on here complaining that the hardware wasn't innovative enough because it doesn't have some obvious gimmick are in the minority here. Most people buy Nintendo products for Nintendo games and I'd much rather them invest in say, more ram, than to tack on a dual screen that will make games not forwards compatible. A better Switch that Nintendo could cook on is all I wanted and to have actually decent specs on the machine would be such an incredibly nice surprise.

I'm sad that you are sad that the Switch 2 will have no YoYo attached to it, but I think this is the best path forward for everyone.

Ew same terrible joycons wtf

They need to sell Pro Joycons with grip handles that are actually comfortable to play in handheld. They would make a killing.

I don't believe the specs. It would be too expensive in a post Moore's law world. Especially for a company like Nintendo that needs to profit off the hardware.

Grain of salt..
i do. this is being fabd on Samsung right? they havent seen the demand/price increase that TSMC has

I think this is supposed to be a comparison between the normal switch at the bottom, and the new one at the top

PS4 in Handheld mode, PS4 Pro in Docked mode
but with modern GPU features like Raytracing and DLSS.

DLSS has the potential to get it visually close to PS5 in select games when docked. as DLSS can easily upsample from 1080p to 4K and look close to native 4K in games like Doom Eternal for example.

I said it in another thread already, but a Doom Eternal port on the Switch 2 legitimately has the potential to look superior to the PS5 and Series X versions, as even running the game at 900p internally and then upsampling it to 1800p through DLSS gives you better image quality than the dynamic 4K mode on PS5/SX
Noob question but will DLSS apply on handheld mode too? I really want Xenoblade/Botw/ToTk /SMTV to look really good on handheld mode with stable framerates

The joycon rails are completely different and theres an image of the the railings.

On top of that with all the other leaks over the last year, we knew the switch 2 was going to be exactly that: a switch 2

So seems legit to me
rails are similar enough. not completely different. And images are from a person into 3d printing.

that being said...it isn't like we don't know already that the Switch 2 is going to look like the Switch for the most part.

this looks too verbatim to me tho.

Both modes I suppose, but the internal resolution will be half what docked will do. Say, DLSS quality is 1440p when doing 4K but it's only 720p when doing 1080p. The screen is 1080p, just in case.

It's a prototype from October 2023, it's not literally gonna look 1/1 like that. lol

SD cards exist, are thankfully not that expensive anymore, and are fast enough these days to not be an issue.

I think they heavily rely on users bringing their own storage to keep the system price low.
also they still are big on retail versions, which will save you storage

An SD Card will not give you 2500 MBs of read speeds. I don't think you understand this is not standard flash memory in the Switch 2.

So, all Playstations and Xboxes are basically the same thing but Nintendo does one iterative console one and it's suddenly unexciting? I don't get it. If this had some crazy feature thrown in the same people complaining now would just say it's gimmicky lol

If anything I find it assuring and refreshing that I don't have to worry about Nintendo's wanting to feel special and revolutionize videogame input again.

Wasn’t it rumored that the pro controller for the switch one would also still be the same pro controller for the switch 2? Or do you guys think there will be a pro controller 2?
I could see them updating their HD rumble to be on par with Duelsense.
The only other things it would really need is a headset port and analogue triggers but I don't think there gonna bother with those again.

I'm in the fake camp. Just looks too simple/safe.

I also hope to see a return of two screens like having both the switch and tv display separate images. I think there were a lot of fun ideas the WiiU could have done with unique multiplayer experiences. Even just the feature of having a map or inventory in your hand was amazing.

I frankly find it exciting and surprising that Nintendo is actually releasing an iterative console. The Switch is a winning formula, and I’m glad they’re not trying to reinvent the wheel.

I would expect more change to the face than an additional capture button on the right joycon.

plus an additional capture button seems like a nothing burger move. I hit that button more accidentally than on purpose. But ...their audience are kids and maybe they love that button and now they don't have to fight with their brother or sister to get the joycon with the capture button? Maybe that's a big request.

Nintendo haters are something else here, they always find a way to attack Nintendo, I can’t wait to see comparisons between SW2 games with current gen consoles, if DLSS works as expected is going to be a lot of fun here, good times ahead 😂.

TV only??

We are talking about a handheld with a video out here :D
WRONG.
Switch is a whole product, you have to judge it based on what and how is it being sold to you.

For example, PS Vita was an actual handheld with a video out, it was marketed as a handheld, came out of the box only to be used a handheld, it was never said to be a hybrid and its TV output solution was an afterthought barely 4 people (two of them from GAF and similar forums) gave a shit about it.

Switch was created since its very conception as a hybrid machine, it has always been marketed as a hybrid console, the VERY FIRST TIME we see a Switch it was connected to a TV in the VERY FIRST trailer, it comes with everything you need for a TV only experience (dock, joycons grip, HDMI cable), its hardware is essentially designed to remove the controllers which no other handheld device has any need for, also the Dock is literally a handware designed to hold it in a comfortable way so it's not just laying around the TV with a cable plugged. None of these reasons apply to any other "handheld with TV out" out there in the market because they're primarily a handheld.

The main body is in the shape of a tablet because for an obvious reasons that may escape you (most things might escape you at this point anyway) and it's that it has to be designed at its lowest common denominator in order to serve both: handheld and TV gaming appropriately.

You would have a point for the Switch Lite, but that one can't even be connected to a Dock and isn't marketed as a handheld anyway, so no point either. It doesn't even come with Dock or HDMI cable and joycons can't be separated from the main body... Hell I see you don't even have to go out of Nintendo in order to get a contrasting example.

Reducing the Switch to "just a handheld with TV out" is like saying PS5 and Xbox Series are just PCs with proprietary SO, ignoring all the things they have that set them apart from a standard PC and how they're marketed.

Hope that helps you pal, I know it's difficult sometimes to understand easy things, but it's how it is.

Nah, DLSS is good but aint magic. Current Gen consoles are still going to be on a different ballpark. But that also come with benefits. And games are going to look really good still. They can play a good hand I think.

Doubt it, if we are to continue using FSR trash I can see the pendulum swinging back...

the vast majority of games do not need such speeds. I could see them having warning lables for games that need fast storage, but anyone playing on a Steam Deck (me for example) can tell you that load speeds aren't that different compared to the internal SSD. it's very rare that games exhibit a big load speed difference.
