Is the game breaking bug in the 1.0 version of this game that is on the disc version or is from a later update?
You have disc version?

Disc version 1.0 is the best way to play on pro right now. I'm not sure about saves and potential bugs...
I cant speak for the PS5 version, but on PC I played through the release code to completion with no issues. The labyrinth bug was introduced in a later patch. You should be fine.

At least performance looks better but is missing quality mode features.

Lets be frank. This is not a very demanding game as most of it is indoors so no reason for the pro to at least have rt reflections in quality mode .

But there is no upgrade in visuals from base ps5
There seems to be a downgrade in Quality mode to my eyes ...the lighting used to have a very rich quality to it that isn't there now
 


Yea. You are right. They somehow makes the quality mode more shimmering, but it looks substantial sharper than the performance.

And maybe you are right. Look like the lighting is different. Maybe they turned down GI further and increase resolution on the performance mode to deal with the shimmering.

I think they did mess with the Gi/Lumen because light bounce seems worse, colors seem worse in general especially noticeable in Quality

Nah, I think they reverse back to the old ps5 version with higher DRS range.

Take a look at the new video comparison above this post. The new lighting is pretty similar to the base ps5 which had lower quality in AO compare to the pro 1.005 version.

Seems they did put shadows and AO to the absolute minimum on this patch, lower than in base PS5, and also took a FPS performance hit, to raise the internal resolution to try to fix a bit of that crazy shimmering, and it works since it looks at least playable now.

It's the opposite...the first thing i noticed was the lack of depth to the image and washed out look

Digital Foundry is often wrong as they're not spending the same amount of time we are playing these games

Sony's handling of the Pro has been terrible. From not updating games like Ghost of Tsushima and Returnal to being so "hands off" working with devs and not paying devs if needed to get big games like Cyberpunk supported.

I'm also constantly getting DNS drop outs using Wifi on it.
 
Bloober team, you absolute incompetent hacks, way to tarnish the reputation of your 9/10 received game, you have to be some special kind of stupidly incompetent hacks as to screw things up like this.

I mean, shit, all their previous games ran like absolute shit on consoles (minus The Medium) so this was to be expected, thing is, this isn't their run of the mill shite that they produce but a beloved game that - magically - they managed to pull it off.

Once mediocre, always mediocre, said it before and i'll say it again : This company has actually some pretty good artists but when it comes to the technical side of things (coding) they're an absolute mess.

Think Sony could definitely have prioritized SH2 more than they did considering how incredibly different things look for Stellar Blade. Matter of resource allocation, I'm guessing. But yeah, don't really have much problem with what you are saying overall. Every game is basically a promotion for Pro and that can be positive or negative. It is certainly in Sony's best interest that games released with "Pro Enhanced" labels meet a certain standard. At the same time, devs are able to look at the game just as well as anyone else and see the issues. They need to hold off on patches for Pro until the patch is ready, whether with Sony's help or not.

Did it get patched? The game looks absolutely stunning from Brookhaven and onwards. All the issues I had in performance mode are gone. Not sure if it was patched or if the setting is simply different.

I'm hesitant to purchase this. How is the performance on Pro at the moment? Is the first forest section the only part with dips into high 40's? All the videos make the game look like it looks and performs like ass on Pro...

Maybe some money exchanged hands which is why they are being so stubborn about it. I already see the comments shitting on UE5 when the base PS5 version didnt have these issues lol.

The issue isnt with UE5. Lets all use our brain and stick to TSR. You will get back more GPU and you can push resolution even more than 900p.

Devs need to realize that this is not a PS4 pro style upgrade, and they need to extract the most out of this 40-45% extra GPU performance. If you increase settings, you lose a good portion of that. If you use PSSR, you will lose a good portion of that. Then there are the memory costs of AI reconstruction. Do what Lords of the Fallen devs did, increase the resolution by 40%, keep everything the same across both modes.

While the implementation is pretty bad I don’t think the blame should entirely be placed on the developer. Multiple games with various different engines are having issues with PSSR. Even GT7 PSSR/RT mode has severe IQ issues, and that’s from one of the most talented developers at Sony.

It appears that PSSR is having problems with low resolution and/or issues with some forms of RT and that’s pretty much on Sony to improve. I hate to bring up DLSS again, but getting good results from that upscaler (as well as XeSS) is extremely easy to do, even for really bad developers.
 
With this much horseshit going on, might as well go full PC-For-Dummies and put actual detailed options in the Graphics menu and let us choose ourselves what we want on and off. Some GAFer will find a better combo than them within 32 seconds.

There’s likely no ‘Sony is pressuring devs or that money has changed hands’. Anyone who has followed non DLSS upscalers over the last five years knows how hit and miss/outright negligent devs can be if they’re not dealing with Nvidia directly supporting DLSS integration.

It absolutely does. Drive through some sort of tunnel and look at the dashboard (I was using a Mercedes SLR), it is extremely obvious that PSSR and RT is not mixing well. This is not a blink and you will miss it kind of thing, it’s right in your face. Outside of that specific scenario the PSSR/RT image is once again let down by stability issues, which is odd as the performance/PSSR mode is razor sharp.

Counted 1008 in a few areas for performance. Same DRS window as the base. Image quality vs the base PS5 is virtually identical. Performance is not much different either, a 2-3fps gap. Where the base drops to 49-51 fps the Pro drops to 50-53fps. Lumen GI on the Pro appears a bit lighter as well and the image is slightly altered. Not sure what’s going on there, it’s not a higher Lumen setting or anything. Oliver thinks it looks a bit worse.

Quality mode is unchanged, still same resolution and exact same PSSR resolve.

So the DRS lower bound did raise. I am guessing 1008p to 864p. The outdoor and the beginning we see 1008p most often where the base ps5 drop to 864p.

Wait a minute. DF video on Silent Hill with Tom stating the pro was running from 1080p to 1620p and tend to stay at the higher DRS range with a few drop to 864p with the disc version, and the ps5 range is from 864p to 1152p. This is all over the places.

From what you have paraphrase here, Would it be better just delete the pro Version on the store let people play the base ps5 version? It sounded like a downgrade just for using the same TSR upscaler.

Bloober need to come out and comment on this lol. What are they even doing?

Edit: I missed the PSSR in the quality mode. So they are using 2 different upscalers in the game with 2 different modes?

Sounds like a Bloober booger bug somewhere.

Played SH2 on my PS5 Pro (06 patch) - I was surprised to find that the quality mode is using hardware RT reflections (performance mode is using software RT reflections).

The quality of the hardware RT reflections is not very good, but it is still more than a visible improvement in some situations (will share comparison videos later).

What I also found is that the quality mode is using PSSR, but the performance mode is using TSR.

In both quality and performance modes the RTGI is software based, which is expected (as it is very expensive in hardware form - still need to check what improvements we have in UE5.5).

Dev from resetera. I guess Oliver couldn't spot it.

Yep, 2 different upscalers. Honestly they should just remove PSSR until it gets an updated version and just focus on pushing that TSR res as high as possible. It’s a mess all around.

I would love to see how Rebirth looks with UE4 TAAU instead of PSSR.
