I was surprised at the similar vibes over on Reddit. A lot of use of the word "betrayal"...
But these are people who mostly just rented their games...
I mean corporations don't care about customer loyalty at the best of times, but what loyalty did they expect when they invested zero in the platform?
And most of them were talking about jumping ship in a heartbeat, which is exactly the problem for Xbox. You've got these users but they have no investment in your ecosystem - they're just passers by and when the wind changes they're off.
Anyway, what's done is done. It's not exactly news that has set the internet on fire or anything - the Sega stuff was more impactful even then, and that predated social media. This is all a bit damp. MS have even managed to mishandle what could have been a major hype event by drip feeding this stuff and doing it in a disorganised way.
