Forza Horizon 5 |OT| Are you a Mexican, or a Mexican't?

Its just soo good, everywhere you go is filled with detail. And like you said the sound in this game is something else, the way you hear other cars flying next to you or in the city is one of the most realistic sounds of cars i have ever heard.
And i have some more pics since i fixed the game last night =)

I am struggling hard with the race series for the autumn cars. I am struggling like hell to even place top 3 on the races. I’m not ready for slick tracks and highly skilled drivatars.

Look through the tunes, make sure they have off road tyres or just search the tunes for autumn playlist- usually helps :)

Since I started playing longer sessions after work I've had a weird issue - after 3+ hours of play my game starts to chug, dipping down into the 20s/30s sporadically, especially when moving at high speeds.

GPU/CPU/memory are all staying well under 50-70% usage and my temps are fine. There's no Windows Updates or anything heavy happening in the background.

Restarting the game fixes it every time so it's not a big deal. Just curious if others have had this happen and if there's a memory leak or something in the game.

Yep I've had the same issue since day one of early access.

Since I tend to "binge" game for extended sessions when I do settle down to play it's pretty much happened every time I play.

Stinks of a memory leak issue on PC.

....And the award for racing game of the year goes to...

Don't you mean the Sports/Racing game of the year?

A few people have noticed the same thing. Someone on reddit came up with a fix. I haven't run into the same issue so I can't verify it'll fix things but others have indicated it helped. If you have at least 16GB of ram it can't hurt to try.

"This is the real problem why the game has all this bugs in game like fps drops or shutters its because of memory overflow something is wrong there the game is taking not enough RAM to reproduce the graphic like its not possible that players with an RTX3070 and an good CPU getting shutters in game. This is how to fix the problem, that the game is using your full RAM like 16gb needed to play on high or ultra settings: Memory overflow is another cause of the LOW FPS issues after playing Forza Horizon 5 for a while. This can be fixed by increasing the paging file. Type “advanced system settings” and open this app > click “settings” under Performance > Advanced tab > click ‘Change’ under Virtual Memory > uncheck “Automatically manage paging file size” > check Custom size and set 8192MB for Initial Size and 16000MB for Maximum and hit apply. The paging file size I’ve mentioned here are for at least 16 GB of RAM. This will fix the low FPS issue with FH5."

The seasonal events this run are actually tough. They are very dependent on cornering and setting up well for the next corner.

Basically stay very wide approaching corners and ignore the racing line even to the point it seems stupid. You'll end up with less braking zones, keep your speed up and not slide sideways around the corner which is where you'll lose even more speed. You also need to be in something relatively light so your inertia doesn't drag you off your line.

Crudely draw example of a typical trailblazer corner. Yellow dots are checkpoints. The light blue line is how the game's racing line generally lays down. It's a very conservative line made for beginner racers that really becomes mostly useless at higher levels or against human players and following it in trailblazer races put you at a disadvantage. Following it will keep speed lower than if you make some adjustments to it. The red line is what I would use. This way I brake hard once, then start my turn, feather the throttle until I'm generally facing the right way and then mash the gas. I'll be straightened out while the other racers are still working their way around the corner accelerating the entire time.

The big jumps are brutal too, you absolutely need rally springs and a lot of travel damping to soak up the landings without scrubbing speed.

I built a Bronco with off-road tires and a tune specifically for Pick Up the Pace reducing it's weight. The big trucks need to scrub too much speed and the small ones lose too much speed when hitting things like walls. Medium weight vehicles are a good middle ground and I get to stick to my "only mods that make some sense" rule I self-imposed. For Four on the Floor I used a JCW Mini Countryman set up with off-road tires and a tune and for When it Rains it Pours I used the newest Audi TT with off-road tires set up similarly.

In the two weeks since this launched I've been playing for five of them solid. Of those five days I spent two just teaching my drivatar to drive like the dirtiest son of a bitch to ever get behind the wheel of a car. I also rarely fast travel, driving from event to event racking up skill points is a lot of fun and I have a tendency to explore.

Video games are designed to be addictive. From the days of the arcade, when developers wanted you to keep feeding coins into the machine, right up until now, where consistent player engagement is king, ensuring that games always have something to keep players interested and to keep them coming back has been a crucial part of game design.

Some games do that better than others, of course- Forza Horizon 5, for instance, is probably the most addictive game we've played all year. Pretty much every second of the experience, there's countless things vying for your attention, distracting you in all the best ways possible.

And yes, that can be a bit overwhelming for some in the early stages, but once you get past that hump, it's difficult to break out of that loop. Here, we're going to talk about a few ways Forza Horizon 5 accomplishes that.

I don’t understand what the Colossus is. It popped up on the map but is just a tiny race with odd jumps and bowling cones. Impossible to not finish 1st since there is nobody else on the track. Still have an unchecked box that says win the Colossus championship. Where’s the rest of it?

Make sure when you do it it's a Horizon event and not something somebody set up in eventlabs.

People were using those long events to cheese levels and money.

It’s a big icon on the map to the right, doesn’t look like an event labs race. But I’ll double check.

I usually save rivals for when I've done everything else, because it can be terribly frustrating, and leave you stuck doing one circuit forever.
Ya I’m gonna move on, just wanted times up on everything, I’ll go back and improve them later. This game is really fun, I want to do everything

I think you've done the seasonal challenge instead of the actual race.

Yeah I checked and it says:
The Colossus
Seasonal Eventlab
But how do I do the actual race? Is this some other user created thing and I haven’t unlocked real Colossus yet? Just did the street racing Marathon if that info can be of any use.

Never thought I’d get into a racing game that isn’t a kart racer, yet here I am (thanks, Game Pass!).

I’m really enjoying FH5. I’m totally clueless about high-speed racing and the intricacies of different cars and motors, let alone fine tuning. I content myself with just the cars I get from the game and I’m not going to delve too deep into it. The game does a fine job of making itself affordable for a noob like me, and anyway I’m not here for the flag, but for the ride.

I like having a map full of missions and objectives. Probably only way a realistic racing game can keep me interested beyond the beginner’s courses. It’s a sort of bizarre mix between a racer and Breath of the Wild. The friendly atmosphere is nice, too.

I started the game in quality mode and the blur helps a lot on a OLED TV. But since I switched to performance mode I think there’s no going back - 60fps is absolutely the way to go for racers. Pity that the impact on IQ is huge.

Feels like I wasted 5 million on that castle. Haven't played in a few days, jumped back in today and zero super wheel spins.

Thats the same kind of visual map I have in my mind for the challenges when I cant figure them out lol. For the cross country races I usually try and go wide and then cut the corners to overtake as many as possible.

The speed zone challenge took me a couple of days attempts but I finally did it lol. Just about passed it with 125 something and could have gone further but Im good.

For the rainy championship I used the Supra 2020 with a tune (called "Autumn Festival" cant remember the user) I found on the shop and blasted through all races at no 1 first time. Super nice grip which made it easy to speed past the other cars.

Only got two more things to do this season and Im done for now. The Mugen reward this week is godly, think Im gonna do the rest of the road races in D class lol.

Thanks guys! Sadly that fix probably won't help me. I've got 64GB of RAM and the game Hoovers up to 35 after about four hours of play but never maxes it out so I'm not sure that'll be effective. Not a real issue though, restarting the game once every three hours or so isn't bad.

In other news I snagged the second storm season car last night so now I can focus on the 12 adventure points I've had racked up for awhile.

Super pissed I missed the second seasonal car last week by TWO POINTS because I was still new and didn't fully understand the way seasons worked. I thought it would rotate back in again. Grabbed the DeLorean though for better or worse.

Im getting fairly competent at this game. Beat the seasonal showcases on Pro difficulty and that achievement for winning six races against Unbeatable drivatars actually seems within reach. Also took two first places in online for the first time! Driving against real people is such a blast.

Still loving this game.

edit - Also, the Hoonicorn has my vote for best drift car that can also actually be driven for other uses effectively. This thing is a beast. Shame it's so ugly.

Yes.
Just turn off the guided line people, I'd say it's even detrimental for "beginner racers", set the line to "braking only" and you will actually learn how to take corners.
At some point you'll realise there's some leeway with the braking line too, and you'll instinctively start pushing the cars harder.

I bought the Honda Civic Coupe from the forzathon shop, since it is not in the autoshow. And it has a custom set of decals that I think refer to FH4 but I cant make the connection and if this car was hard to find or something.

I can't speak for any Forza Horizon 5 issues on PC since I'm playing on XSX, but I had similar issues with FH4 on PC. I read a suggestion to try running RAMMap before each session, and clearing the Standby Memory (Empty -> Empty Standby List). I recall that helping, but I'm not sure if it applies to these FH5 issues.

I'm not sure. But it's been 3 days since I bought it an not a single wheel spin. I even drove right up to the castle's driveway and still nothing.
Same here. I haven't seen a wheel spin yet after buying the house a earlier this week. I saw on Reddit that it only works if you sign on around the same time of day when you first purchased the house. It would help if I could remember the time I purchased it, but either way, that would be absurd.

I don't think it's a game problem. Just did 3 hour session and at the end saw 8,5 GB sys ram usage.

So I was able to convoy up last night and complete all the arcade events finally. I love this game but holy crap the connection issues are horrible. So many disconnects and ghost players.

Stuck waiting for treasure and smash challenges for the last two achievements. Smash could be like 2 more months to finish.

these are my usage metrics after 2 hrs of play with xbox series x performance mode equivalent settings at 4k (i only have night shadows on as a difference and 2x msaa. 4 ssaa +2x msaa is enough to clean up most of the aliasing in the game)

sometimes game uses 3.5-5.5 gb ram depending on the region or the circumstance, sometimes it gets back to 1.5-2.5 gb, it depends

vram consumption was crazy with extreme textures, and around 4 gb-4.5 gb with high textures. finallly they fixed ultra textures so i can use the middleground option without apparent problems. I did not notice any VRAM related issues with extreme textures, but I felt like they're not worth it after a couple side by side comparisons

How do they add new cars to the game? I'm not sure if its missing, but say it was, should we expect them to add the new Z06 with a game update?
