The atmosphere in this game is something else, I think this has the best implementation of the Volumetric fog with light Shafts.
If it isn't for you, it isn't for you. Overrated is a term employed by people who have too high an opinion of their own opinions. Instead of accepting that your subjective tastes are preventing you, personally, from enjoying what HZD offers you're instead insinuating everyone else is simply faking their enjoyment of the game.I agree with your negatives and i have fewer positives. Very overrated.

It's silly and arrogant. Stop being a Hanzo main.
Thats ironic considering this is one of the most arrogant posts ive read in a while. Heard of projection?
The game does nothing new, its not surprising there are people who think its overrated.

What's everyone's favourite robot beast? I think the Snapmaw is mine, I love them. I'm a big fan of crocodiles and these nail the movement. Those jaws! Love the leap attack, tail spin, the ranged freeze bombs and the way they sneak about in water.

There is a huge difference between stating "I don't think this is a good game", which is totally fine, and slighting the opinions of others who enjoy a thing you did not by accusing them of misrepresenting their experiences. The latter is really insulting.Thats ironic considering this is one of the most arrogant posts ive read in a while. Heard of projection?

Stalkers. They always present a risk and their cloaking presents a unique trait that separates them from other enemies. One of my most tense moments in HZD was fighting two cloaked stalkers with little ammo and health only to discover that there was a third in the vicinity as well. I love that their gun gives little room for error in dodging and I wish they weren't quite as easy to forcibly decloak. What's everyone's favourite robot beast? I'm not even close to being finished, but I will say, HZD has, without doubt, the best story I've ever seen in a video game by a long way. so much so, that I'm thinking this is the best candidate to be made into a film ever. The game does nothing new,

Perfection.
just finished...was gonna try for the platinum but popping the last few trophies was just way too tedious if you missed stuff during your play though. felt like an assassins creed game at that point.
- collect 30 flowers
- destroy 23 dummies
- kill myself lol

I find myself really conflicted on this game, probably about halfway in I suppose. It's weird to read the nearly perfect "masterpiece" level praise in this thread because I feel like this game has such highs and lows.
The presentation feels all over the place. At times it's top notch and at others the animations, voice acting, overall sound design are sloppy and subpar. Aloy is definitely great while some npcs and quest givers are emotionless or are overacting. The repetitive quips from enemies and npcs in some fights stands out for sure.
The world is incredibly well built and atmospheric, but the cities are lifeless and static, npcs don't wander the streets and merchants are nothing more than a menu prompt. One such example is after a certain explosive event happens in the city and guards come running over, yet a quest giver is still in the same spot yelling the same stuff he'd normally do.
Combat is amazing when it comes to the machines and how you need to exploit their weaknesses. But the human combat is really really bad and unsatisfying, and I feel like I'm spending way too much time doing that. Melee also stands out as really clunky and bad, although getting a heavy stun and critical can be great.
The story overall is compelling, but leaves a lot to be desired in the actual storytelling. Dumping huge parts of exposition in nonstop data and audio logs is not how to do this. I know we're supposed to be discovering ancient technology and history, but there should be a better way to pace this stuff out.
I also don't feel like so far there have been any hard choices to make. No tough story decisions, no difficult build choices in progression, it all feels like a more straightforward experience, for better or worse.
There are times here that I feel Horizon reaches the level of the Witcher, but so many of the little quirks really stand out. I want to continue because when I get to the stuff I like I love this game, the bad parts are definitely hard to ignore. It definitely stands above some of the more bland open world games out there, but I don't think as much a as some are giving it credit for, at least with how much I've played. I hope my opinion improves.

The game could seriously do with a NG+ and a difficulty a notch or two above VH. HZD's combat is tight enough that it rivals traditional action titles and would pair well with giving players the sort of challenge found in Souls games.
A cloaked Thunderjaw would be cool...
One thing I wish they'd done is environmental variants of each machine. A desert Thunderjaw with coolant exhausts that is pretty much impervious to overheating, another for colder regions that has heating elements and is unfreeze-able. That would make for more varied combat scenarios where you can't get completely reliant on a single way to defeat each machine.

I made a short clip of the fight with 2 corruptors early on, the easy way when you are on high difficulty.

Welp. I guess I just spoiled myself by checking out the list of weapons on the wiki. Dammit.
Saw something called "Sylens' Lance," so I'm assuming he'll die and I'll get it afterwards or something. At least that answers my question about the spear I saw some players have.
At least I know how to get thenow.Tearblaster

What's everyone's favourite robot beast? I think the Snapmaw is mine, I love them. I'm a big fan of crocodiles and these nail the movement. Those jaws! Love the leap attack, tail spin, the ranged freeze bombs and the way they sneak about in water.
Stalker for sure. My most epic moments involved Stalkers chasing me through the jungle. Or setting up traps for them by planting explosives around their motion sensors, and setting the sensor off. What's everyone's favourite robot beast? I think the Snapmaw is mine, I love them. I'd like this and more legendary versions of the tougher machines alongside this idea. A super Thunderjaw that is all black, cloaks and has even more weapons than the normal versions
