IGN:Good lord this is the worst list of TGA's GOTY nominees ever.

It's a game from XGS with a IP big name, from Machine Games coming out in 2024 and has been previewed well. I guess we could wait until December 09 and say "here is another big game that came out this year". 2025 is going to be big with GTA6, but it's not out yet.

But this isn't a list of "big games". It is a list of games nominated for awards. Can't say whether or not Indy is worthy of any awards until we play the game. A bit early to say for Stalker 2 or MSFS as well, tbh. If there was a graphics category then Hellblade 2 should be in that, but really strange that there isn't one.

Don't forget the 'How Many Times You Paused to Shit the Toilet Brought to You by Taco Bell' category.

Undoubtedly a slow year, though Astro Bot and Metaphor would be great games any year.
Not a slow year but not many games that I could see getting nominated for TGA either even with those releases. We had Stellar blade, Helldivers 2, Wukong, Astrobot, FF7 Rebirth, Metaphor, Dragon Age, Hellblade 2, Rise of the Ronin, Tekken 8, and Infinite Wealth. It wasn't a bad year.

SOET shits all over those other games minus Astro.

Like someone said, if they slapped a 2 on the cover and charged $60, no one would care about it being nominated.

This is the same dude who shit all over Alien Isolation when it came out too so his opinion means about as much as my morning shits.

To be honest, it's good we have unknown games this year. The one thing I like about those awards is that makes me pay attention to title I would otherwise ignore.

To me it feels like backlash from media members to nominations would be because of the lack of traffic those games would bring their sites.
What? The media are the ones who put forward the nominees.

Elden Ring DLC is there, and that game drives huge amounts of coverage to sites, especially like IGN when it comes to guides. It's just that not even journalists can pretend like it's a good year when they feel compelled to place DLC over the new catalogue.

Balatro, unexpected indie success.
They've been nominating actual or astroturfed "indie darlings" for years. That's why there are 6 spots instead of 5. The media love doing it.

These awards are irrelevant. But the fact they nominated an expansion (dlc) is crazy. There were some great games this year. I got into some indies too and love it.

Stalker is a 70 rated mess so it had no shot anyway LMAO.
True, the review embargo should've been after the day one patch.

Playing it right now and it's incredible. Probably one the best immersive experiences I've had in AAA gaming in like the last 5 years? Janky for sure, but incredibly ambitious with thick vibes.
