Indiana Jones and the Great Circle |OT| Fortune and Glory, kid. Fortune and Glory.

Finished it at around 45 hours. Probably my favorite AAA game of the last few years, but mostly because the game was so true to the source material. I might actually double dip on PS5 since I only played the gamepass version on PC.

High praise, I guess you don’t want to rush this one?

45 hours is longer then I thought

Personally I thought it peaked in the first Act. By the end of it I just wanted it done. But I'm not typically a completionist and the combat/AI was distractingly bad. It also felt weird that they gated story progression behind that combat AND it was essentially recycled each time. The setting and immersion were top notch though, like generationally outstanding. However not a particularly well balanced experience in the end. I'd still give it mid to high 70's though.

I think I beat it more around 20-25 hours. I’m normally a completionist type but I’m not that into first person stealth. I basically just mainlined it to see the movie. It’s definitely the most polished Xbox game since Hi-Fi Rush and probably their best game since FH5.

Rolled credits and I'm definitely on the camp that thinks the game's opening hub is its best and most fun to traverse. The remaining hubs range from worse to awful. I had zero desire to seek out the collectibles, especially in the later Hubs where the traversal became much more tedious.

Stealth was a joke and eventually I just said fuck this and meleed everything. The more I played, the more I was able to visualize what I would want to see improved in the gameplay loop. I think it would be fucking awesome if the exploration was more governed by resources (e.g. Spelunky) and you could buy items to further your explorations.

not terrible, but I was def left down after the promising/opening Hub

Yeah I already know the gameplay looks pretty mid.

I'm just wondering if I can enjoy the other aspects to still leave me feeling satisfied overall.

Surprising this game was #2 GOTY here based on what I see of the gameplay

lacks big time in its core gameplay mechanics, platforming is annoying, combat is ass, stealth is ass (mainly because enemy a.i. is non existent)
was always trying to find the right uniforms so i can skip most of it.
puzzles are fine but definitely on easier side.

still an 8/10 for me, what it does good is the atmosphere, metroidvania hub designs, and machinegames' quirky humor, which fits the franchise well.

Only one way to find out. I think it will depend on your nostalgia levels for Indy.

As to #2, there is an element of Xbox finally getting something right. Which they kind of did. Then there is the nostalgia aspect, it's out of the park good. It's definitely not a bad game, so in the top 10? Arguably, but #2? You would have had to have played a pretty curated list imho. Oh just to add, hated the dream sequences, felt forced.

Average age of Gaf is probably between 35-40. Indy is an icon for that generation. The game is a really good Indy movie. If you like the character of Indy, you'll surely like the game. It's pretty much that simple

I finished it yesterday, all in all its just ok game.
The locations were beautiful and that was only positive about it.
The gunplay was horrendous, i encountered bunch of bugs while playing, there was some kind of stuttering and it lacked a polish of a high budget game, it felt like low budget game made in unreal engine 5. I would give it 5/10, its good I played it on gamepass otherwise I would be disappointed if i have spent 70 euros on it.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion, but don’t expect anyone to take it seriously with comments like ‘it felt like a low budget game’…

Enjoying the game but it doesn’t seem like it’s optimized well for me. I play via GFN on ultimate tier and I get slowdown no matter what option I pick. I downgraded from 4K to 1440p and still get it, than turned ray tracing off and still get it.

I really can’t get this game to click for me

Feels too much like an interactive movie if that makes sense

I should really try to finish it though because for what it’s worth it seems like an excellent movie

Just finished the sequence in Shanghai, I did not expect any of that, did not even get spoiled hearing about it. Fun.
Took a break from Avowed to go back to some Indy. I'll play a few more hours of Indy then go back into Avowed.

Sukhothai level design, at least in regards to getting across the map, was bad. Even with quick travel it wasn't much better.

Shanghai and Himalayas also felt out of place, as they were very linear. I love linear games, but it was a weird contrast compared to the other areas.

Best area hands down was the Vatican.

Hand-to-hand combat was serviceable, but needed to be fleshed out more. Gunplay was bad. Stealth was too dumbed down. Outfits were unnecessary and made the game too easy. Upgrades seeemed mostly worthless.

I liked the game, but the gameplay loop did get old by the time I was done. Yet another game that suffered from having way too many collectible items, half of which could have easily been eliminated.
