It was then confirmed it was US.
Thx!

Need for Speed: Most Wanted only 509k...seems very low for the game.
Halo 4 US 3.2 + UK 340~ k + Eu + rest of world = 4 million ?
I doubt it
Halo 4 has easily done over 4 million
COD finally peaked?
All the games bombed are from second party studios though :v
So maybe they will close the contract with superbot
Expect 2013 to be a pretty grim year unless A) their marketing gets a hell of a lot better or B) they release a new Zelda or Metroid-scale title. Short of those two, 2013 is gonna be a bloodshed in the home console market. The 3DS will chug along, but it won't outdo the DS in terms of sales from generation to generation.
Black Ops II 7.5M
Halo 4 3.2M
Assassin's Creed III 2.9M
Need for Speed: Most Wanted 509k

This means BO2 on PC + Wii U did around 100k.
Halo 4 has easily done over 4 million
They definitely have to release a big, really impressive "Next-gen" title. I think the controller gimmick this time around just isn't as compelling as the Wii's and there is nothing special about its launch line-up.
They need to do it before the truly impressive stuff turns up too.
It doesn't seem likely.
Sadly, I think at best Nintendo may match say, Halo 4 or Uncharted or Last of Us, while the developers of these titles are probably working on face melting titles for their next-generation offerings.
There is just no real "Hype" any longer with the Wii U. They really tossed that in the garbage with this E3. At best the release has been underwhelming.
Well here's to hoping they turn things around.
pikmin may be a sign of things. you can see its roots as a gamecube game, but it sure looks pretty. of course, it should have been a god damned launch title, and its delay into q2 2013 doesn't instill me with confidence that nintendo has a ton of other things just waiting in the wings.
The HW numbers are mostly like expected. I expected slightly worse results for 3DS and Wii U. Wasn't the number given out by Nintendo (400k) covering the same time period as this NPD for Wii U? Of course trackers aren't 100% accurate, but it continues to amaze me that Nintendos own tracker seems to undershoot (can I even use that word in this sense? ^^) the NPD numbers.
Microsoft continues to be strong with the X360. Actually, just looking at those numbers and at the YoY change, I'd say that MS is probably the only one of the three that could wait until 2014 to release its new console.
Concerning Vita. Didn't it do like 160k alone during BF week according to Sony? If so wow...
Concerning Nintendo. They need to get their shit together. Going into Christmas with Paper Mario and Layton was a bad idea, plain and simple. I wonder what they'll have ready for the last few months of 2013.
Edit: Does anybody have the (WW and NA) LTDs for the CoD games? Shipments by Activision are fine if that's the only data that is available.

This is the most worrying thing. It's a pretty dismal season for 3DS, and Wii has been done for sometime. I was honestly expecting Pikmin 3 to make it out sooner than Q2 since the game should be done.
Then you have studios like Intelligent Systems working on Game and Wario instead of stuff like Advance Wars. I'm just wondering what they're doing over there.
The worrying thing for Nintendo regarding the 3DS is the only tentpole release they have left really is Pokemon. Animal Crossing might do well, but it's hard to tell when it's been so long.
They've done the Nintendogs thing, the 2D Mario thing, Mario Kart, etc etc, this should have been a big second Christmas for them.
Releasing a couple of Mario games doesn't seem to have worked.
Mario Kart....shit I wonder what kind of second screen tom foolery they will add to the inevitable Wii U version.
the thing that bothers me most about game & wario is that they just fucking made nintendoland and they're both pretty much the same thing. and i know that wii play and wii sports were also the same thing, but wii sports was bundled with every console, and wii play was basically a $10 game when you bought a new controller.
What transition?
1 out of 3 players moving on is no transition.
They make those kind of games because they require low budgets, I'd love Intelligent Systems worked in more ambitious projects too, but no way in hell Nintendo would invest in a game of the budget of as say Uncharted or Last of Us.the thing that bothers me most about game & wario is that they just fucking made nintendoland and they're both pretty much the same thing. and i know that wii play and wii sports were also the same thing, but wii sports was bundled with every console, and wii play was basically a $10 game when you bought a new controller.
They don't do much on DS though, but I could see the Assymetric gameplay being the big think with MKU
BTW, are the WiiU figures really that bad when you compare them to the launch figures of the 360 and PS3 that were posted earlier?
The biggest problem for 3DS has been what Nintendo did to boost its sales during Black Friday: nothing. It's the only platform which had better sales during the three weeks before BF week than on BF week itself. All the other platforms saw big, if not massive increases. They should have done much more...what they're basically doing for December ( bundle 3DS XL + Mario Kart 7, retailers dropping the OG price to 129.99 $).

i still dont understand why people are so surprised the industry is going down hill
a) wii is dying
b) people are waiting for next gen at this point (no i dont count wiiu)
What happens if the Xbox 3 launches and does WiiU numbers?
I wonder if that 3.2m includes the Halo 4 console.

I was going to say that GT5 shipped 9 million and AC3 probably would top that on PS3, but that's over 3 years and AC3 will probably have yearly sequels, each one selling plenty..so you may be right. GOW3 was even less..
GT and GOW COO have sold over 3 million a piece so yeah.
It's funny how some people think:
More supply, not sold out = Failure
vs.
Less supply, sold out = Success
I called it when I said the iPad would obliterate sales this season when going toe to toe with the Wii U.
Working with kids over the years, I was there when they all wanted a DS, then it was the Wii, then the iPod Touch, now it's the iPad. Not a single kid I know has mentioned the Wii U. Anecdotal obviously, but they all can't get enough of the iPad.
Parents also seem to like this, due to the cheap and educational content. I think GAF forgets the bolded part.
Places are sold out of iPad Minis all around me, but I can walk into Best Buy and buy a Wii U.
Just my experience.
Assymetric gameplay
Man, you really have a thing about GT sales, don't you!GT5 did not ship 9 million in the US. Remember, this is an NPD thread.
Link to portable US sales numbers? PD's own site has their numbers for the PSP version of GT at barely a million.
Well, the numbers aren't bad. There is one thing that I really appreciate about nintendo: they release NPD numbers even when are bad, differently to sony who release only positive results.
iPad is popular but the demand is definitely there. It is pretty anecdotal to say not a single kid asks for Wii U when it's #2 or #4 on the list.
