This is revenue not profit. So they still made money with declining hardware?
So they still made money with declining hardware?
Thanks!This is revenue not profit.
Take TwoDamn at those software margins. With their profits it is time for a new acquisition.

The real winner here is Steam.hardware revenue declined compared to 2022 where they had no releases?

Don't they lose money on the hardware anyway? I'm sure that's what happens every generation? So they still made money with declining hardware?
No one is buying Xbox to play their exclusives anyway. It's the downside of making everything available day 1 everywhere.hardware revenue declined compared to 2022 where they had no releases?
Was higher at the end of the year, but the quarter (isolated) was higher than any other quarter (isolated). That's his point. How can it be the best Q1 ever for Xbox if the revenue was higher in 2022? or I misunderstood
So they still made money with declining hardware?
Highest Q1, chart below (ending June 30) is annual. How can it be the best Q1 ever for Xbox if the revenue was higher in 2022? or I misunderstood

Yup and when it's no longer tied to hardware, watch it skyrocket!![]()
The Starfield and Game Pass effect.
Yeah, I expect either Sega or Square Enix. Post ABK, none of the western publishers (like EA or T2) are interesting anymore. None of them are comparable to ABK in mobile. ABK was literally the biggest possible acquisition that is not a platform holder.I'm thinking more towards the east this time ?
Because It Is Q1 2024 and not 2023 ??How can it be the best Q1 ever for Xbox if the revenue was higher in 2022? or I misunderstood
Gaf said Starfield did nothing for Xbox though.Did Benjy just forget that MS released a game called Starfield last quarter? Why is he so shocked?
How does hardware just keep on going down?
Are people reselling their Xboxes at this point?

I could be wrong, but it looks like he was trying to make the (actually good) numbers look as bad as possible. These numbers are for Q1 2024. So I'm not sure why the OP put up that chart. It's confusing people.
I could be wrong, but it looks like he was trying to make the (actually good) numbers look as bad as possible.
Hence "I could be wrong". In this case it wasn't obvious to me - my bad then if it wasn't your intention.or provide more information
Why is that a disaster? They had their best recorded revenue ever for software in a Q1. Xbox isn't about hardware and hasn't been for years.Xbox Hardware Revenue declined by 7%, in the Starfield quarter and selling fewer consoles than in 2022, disaster.
Not particularly a disaster since you don't need a Series console to play new first party Xbox games. The software is where the money is, not the hardware. In this case selling fewer consoles on increased software revenue probably increases their margins considering they're probably losing money on hardware.Xbox Hardware Revenue declined by 7%, in the Starfield quarter and selling fewer consoles than in 2022, disaster.
Re: Series X hardware shipment estimates
If overall revenue is going up they don't need to do anything. Also they'd lose even more money doing that as its already sold at a loss.Really need to reduce the pride of the Series S by $150 bucks.
edit Pride=Price Typo this is a mistake
Ya know like the Series S
