Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has (so far) hit an all-time peak Steam CCU of 12,138 users

And this here is the exact issue with many gamers today. A fantastic single player game and yet not many people will purchase it cause it's "only long enough to last a week so rent it on Gamepass"…. Fucking hell I really hate what Microsoft have done to gamers today. Indiana Jones is a brilliant single player game. People, buy the fucking game and show Microsoft this is more of what we want! Stop renting these fucking games and BUY THEM!
Some people use Gamepass because they can't afford full priced games all the time & for the ones that want to purchase the game, they have a early access option where you get to buy the game & play it 5 days before release. Anyone who wants badly play it/purchase it would choose that choice. It's not controlling people who would typically buy something, it's giving millions of more people the ability to play it.

It will sell cause of new shiny toy effect. Also good specs at launch.

Later in generation, its sales will fall off due to competition from pc. Just like now.
The question isn't whether it will sell. You said sell well, but how is that defined? Companies don't invest millions and millions of R and D dollars into these consoles to just sell to a few diehards until the shine wears off. If Xbox had confidence in the future of their hardware they wouldn't be marketing everything from your phone to a shoebox as an Xbox. They're putting it put there in very plain English that the console side of things can't sustain their business anymore, let alone grow it.

Why should anyone purchase a game on gamepass??
Are you seriously asking this stupid question. Tango and Arkane Austin says hi.
I'm not triggered at all, I find it funny people are against an awesome deal for video games.

The offer wasn't for you, the dedication of reacting to every green rat post is top notch I wouldn't take away from that.
Thanks, i figured you didnt have the

Next time refrain from making bets my man.

I think theh have enough years of experience to create a box at a reasonable spec with little r and d nowadays. These aren't really bespoke boxes for ms anymore. It's all off the shelf components with an AMD apu.

Also, you, me..no one but Ms knows what they are happy with.

Why do companies like Asus make a rog ally. Must be a lot more r and d than a xbox.

Same for the steam deck etc.

If the next hardware makes profit out the gate like a ps5 pro then I am sure they'll be happy with whatever sales.

I'm all for it, why I want to see gamepass on PlayStation, then I'm sure it wouldn't be 'such a shit thing' all of a sudden.
It would still be a dumb concept.

I also think PS+ is a waste of money, but they paywalled online mp. Thanx to MS and the XBL community, coincidently.

You need to just leave indy threads alone tbh. Because you are claiming the game is mediocre but it's far from it.

Maybe you should discuss the game in the OT then, where people like me have no business being there.

Its easily as good and better imo as many other publishers output.
Many other publishers also put out mediocre titles.
It isn't exclusive to MS. Even my beloved Playstation is guilty of it.

Stop feeling so persecuted on behalf of Xbox.
You are projecting youre insecurities and hopes and dreams but they are not reality.

Such a shame because if this wasn't an Ms studio or was on ps day one you probably wouldn't even sniff at it it'll it want your cup of tea.
What insecurity exactly? I'm not the one getting worked up over opinions.

I don't think a lot of you understand Gamepass. I pay a monthly fee on the basis that MS will provide me with quality games to play.

Not to buy them too if they get good scores.

It's up to MS to keep releasing those quality games so they can get the numbers they want.

I disagree. In 2024 there are no remote or undiscovered tombs anymore. It would be too unrealistic.

Reality disagrees with you.

Which I said, we don't know their internal metrics for what constitutes good hardware sales. We know selling more beats selling less, and we know that Xbox Series sales numbers have nosedived and Gamepass subs have plateaued. Their latest marketing push does not express confidence or satisfaction in their hardware trajectory, current or future.

Asus Rog Allys also use off the shelf parts afaik so there may not be much R n D there either. We do have word( for what it's worth) from Sarah Bond that the next Xbox will feature the largest tech leap. Could just be marketing buzz speak, but we can only go off what is presented to us. Sounds expensive, but who knows.

Believe me, I want to see a successful Xbox. It's not good for anyone if Playstation is the lone high end console on the market.

One is not fit to be an Xbox customer if this stuff shakes their confidence in brand.

New consoles are coming. And they will sell well. Gamers like to buy them. Regardless of whatever gets written on forums.
When are the new consoles coming? What form: traditional or handheld? Xbox or PC-hybrid?

And the current consoles did not sell. But the new ones will sell well. Based on what? lol.

Done with the game now and most of the sidestuff. Much better than the last two Indiana movies. Had quite some flaws and a super annoying soundloop bug, but to me still the best game of 2024.

A next-gen Xbox will probably sell 20M max.

Maybe MS is content with that?
I really do wonder what Xbox Series numbers would look like if these consoles were readily available back in 2020 and 21 in an alternate reality. The Series S for a long time was the only current gen system you could readily order online or find on a shelf through the end of 2022, when PS5 consoles became more readily available. And I'm guessing that's when the line for Series console sales really starting trending downwards.

It will sell in line with Series consoles. Its a non issue now. Their install base and addressable market is still bigger than PS.

I'll buy the game after Microsoft spins Bethesda off into an independent studio again

There is nothing you can show MS ever, they are a company whose corporate culture coalesced in the 1990's, they don't get messages from the likes of you and me

I don't know if you understand the cognitive dissonance in your post, on the one hand you are criticizing MS for what they have done but on the other hand you are telling us to give them more money this makes literally zero sense

Ok… this is really a cult 😂. "You do not have what it takes to give Xbox your money! Begone! … hey… where is everyone?".
Anyone having a kneejerk reaction to stuff discussed online. That does not mix well with owning an xbox console. Nobody is sending anyone away.

Thats the nature of Xbox news cycle. I completely skipped Xbox One because of it. Now I have realised its just noise and how to filter it away.

I might have to abandon the game. Something is very wrong with this thing. Day one I was getting a locked 60fps on my setup with everything maxed out except path tracing. A couple days later I started the game and for some reason the framerate drops into the 40s in the same areas I was seeing locked framerates. I tried dropping settings, even putting everything to their lowest settings and dropping resolution down to 720p. That somehow made the fps drop into the 30s and it would pop back up when I reverted the settings. This morning, I figured I'd try a few more things and once again to my surprise the game was running butter smooth for a few hours, I stopped playing for a bit and reopened this afternoon to find the game dropping consistently into the 40s again. I've never seen this kind of thing before, none of the other games I tried are having any issues like this so I doubt it's a hardware issue.

It's unfortunate as I am enjoying the game.
Thank you for the reminder of why I mostly game on consoles :D.

That's why Xbox going full 3rd party is the only thing that makes sense for them.

They need PS sales. Indy will sell a decent 1-2M copies on PS5.
If they have a decent DualSense implementation and a good Pro patch (bridging lighting quality to at least match PC Lowest settings, unlike my XSX, if not to beat it) than yes… I plan to help with that goal on PS ;).

I was having the same problems except my frame rates were in the teens. I had to stop and start the game and it would go back to normal. I don't think the game is applying settings properly. Very annoying.

Yeah it's strange. Even when I keep below 9000mb vram usage (9700 is tipping point on my 3080), I still get these long 10-15 seconds pauses during cutscenes ruining everything to the point I dont know what's going on. Even on 1440p.
The vram does what it wants and fps too at times. At least it doesn't crash at all.
And the heat effect in ghiza comes and goes when I reload however it wants lol.

I wish it was on ps5. I would take more screenshots too rather than reaching for keyboard.

Bet was $100 it's all yours if you want to take it, I'm sure you can resist posting negative Xbox thoughts for 12 months.

Everyone has some self control…

Is this what it's come to? Paying people to stop them saying anything negative about your favourite toy?

I have about 5-6 friends, totally not a scam, who promise not to badmouth Xbox here. Where do I, I mean they, send their PayPal details?

Sorry, maybe this is not a free for all… is it?

The game just comes across as bland and mediocre. The only real saving grace is the lighting.
As marketed, yes. It's been marketed as a sort of uncharted clone but in 1st person. And honestly, as I'm playing through it (have %28 of achievements), the big set-piece parts were actually the lamest by far and are not really the focus of the moment-to-moment gameplay.

With that said, the bulk of gameplay actually revolves around exploration, puzzle solving and stealth. Those aspects should have been the key focus during the marketing phase instead of showing off big set-pieces. Specifically how multiple approaches can be made for the same "mission".

I found a fix for this. Travel to an area in the game where you don't have performance problems and then back - you'll see you get all your frames back. In Italy, I had to travel to the opening Castel area and then back to the main area. Don't ask me what's going on.

They do hurt themselves and the gameplay by making some actions unnecessarily complex: opening a locked door requires to press DPad to select the key and then the right joystick to manoeuvre the handle… same thing for opening crates (press X to open the crate and up on the joystick to lift the lid).
Who thought this up? This feels like game intern asked to add more interactivity to actions…

It feels like we went from Waggle back to controllers with lots of buttons and we need to make use of them. Honestly, it could be better if the joystick move was replaced by gyros and accelerometers detected motion or just well … make it. Ask for action button press…

The locked door thing is honestly fine by me, kinda simulates how you'd try a door and then see if it's open or not. It also builds anticipation when you are pulling a lever in some tomb, where you have no idea wtf will happen when you do.

Sometimes it makes me think this started life as a VR game and then got downscaled into being first person (I would absolutely buy a VR version of this game btw).

If almost everything that looked like it could be moved and twisted allowed you to do that yes, but if not this feels like Waggle to jump, waggle to punch… an unnecessarily complex setup to perform what could be better accomplished with a single press in 99% of the cases.

You still have little clue in what would happen if you pressed one button vs pressing a button and the joystick too.

What cracks me up is i bet you genuinely think im worked up while I'm legit sat here laughing at your embarassing attempt with this game.

You're the one who has some strange obsession with this title and it seems you haven't even played it lmao.

Just the fact that you legit sit there laughing, is telling.

I have no obsession. Just getting notifications and replying when I feel like it.

Best to just put that member on ignore. He literally has nothing interesting to add besides sitting on a ivory tower and judging

He does have some weird obsession with this game, no matter how hard he tries to tell you that he doesnt have an obsession :messenger_tears_of_joy:

If those last two movies hadn't come out, Indy might still have some value as a nostalgic franchise that ended on a high note. I'm still not sure if anyone under 40 cares, though. It just goes to show you once again that an objectively good game does not guarantee success.

Even thou the peak didn't surpass, the player count still is at a close 12k in the latest 24h

Maybe GamePass has better numbers, but it's not bad

Yet they are saying another generation of Xbox is coming?! To sell to who? To what end? Everything about their messaging is antithetical to the idea that they are still in the business of selling hahardware.
Beats me. I have very little interest in a new Xbox, and I've been an Xbox gamer since the day the first Xbox launched. I'm sure there are a few die hards who would pay $2000 for a next gen Xbox, but that's not a business strategy.

I think the real problem is that some of you have a hard time accepting that people like me consider Xbox output mediocre regardless of platform, because Xbox games on PS automatically make the 'console-war' argument redundant.

So ignoring is about the last option left.
That, and bribery. (Imagine that being standard practice from MS and their fanbase, in full display in this thread)

Oh you holy warrior of Sony. The war ended. You can go back to finding 3rd party games like Indiana Jones interesting rather than mediocre. Not even the most hardcore Sony fans on this board are as stubborn as you.

Yeah Holiday 22 was the start of declining in Xbox Hardware. Which was the coincided with PS5 becoming readily available in the States. If the PS5 shortage was similar to the PS4 in duration oh boy Xbox would be in a whole otherworld of trouble.

Why would I find suddenly find it interesting, because it's going to release on Playstation?
