Leaked Details Indicate Next-Generation Xbox Controller May Feature Capabilities Similar to DualSense. Will be Compatible With Next Xbox Console

Feels great in CP2077 to me. Even saw they created a mod for the pc version.
I have no idea what he is talking about. Most third party games have decent to great dualsense implementation. I just recently played Borderlands 3 and MH Rise on the PS5, both have great haptics and trigger implementation. In MH Rise, using the Heavy Bowgun and pulling the trigger for Wyvernheart makes you feel like a badass as the haptics and the adaptive triggers combine to give the feel of firing a real heavy machine gun.

Then, there are those complaining about the light 'bar' (another poster used this term though it makes no sense for a dualsense controller) reflecting off the TV. The light strip on the dualsense is so subtle that it is difficult to notice when immersed in a game. Since, most of the light is emitted from the top surface around the touchpad, I have no idea how it is reflecting off the TV screen. BL3 has this feature, wherein depending on the element of the gun used, the light bar colour changes (blue for electric, green for corrosive, yellow for radiation, etc), and it is hard to notice due to how subtle the light strip is, especially in a well-lit room. It probably works well on the DS4 that actually has a light bar which can reflect off the TV and other surfaces.

The haptics and triggers are nothing compared to the worst gimmick PlayStation controllers have given us which is the fucking touchpad. What could have been cool has basically just turned into a giant Select button and I can't really think of any game past 2015 that uses it any other way at least off the top of my head. Worst part? We are stuck with it for as long as we have BC for PS4 so unless Sony drop PS4 support for the PS6 or beyond we are stuck with the big dumb button forever.
This is my biggest problem with the DS and DS4. That dumb touchpad, I have no idea who came up with it. Since the portal and steam deck do not have the touch pad, you have to map that idiotic input to one of the rear paddles/touch screen. They should have just had start/select and one extra button for screenshots like the switch. As you said, this button will always be included in future iterations due to BC as some games actually used swipes for performing some actions. I suspect the touch pad and the high polling rate are the main culprits behind the DS' mediocre battery life as the rest of the features are standard in all gamepads (it doesn't take much to light an LED and the haptics are more efficient than the previous gen motors).

Speaking of pointless gimmicks, can't wait to add the switch 2 mouse to that list. It might be the best thing since sliced bread, but I am not sacrificing my comfort by laying the controller on the table and dragging it across the table, while looking at the screen with the left joycon in hand. It will be as bad as the Legion Go and used as much as the IR sensor in the current switch.

Sounds good (apart from what seems to be an in built battery). Looking forward to the Elite 3 version of this controller.

Microsoft:
Xbox and PlayStation are not different enough, we need to change this!

Solution: Lets copy the Dualsense

Hopefully with better build quality than the Elite controllers then. I've had big issues with two Elite controllers, and drifting issues with the standard Series X controller. Never had issues with my Xbox controllers in the past.

Am I the only one who thinks controller vibration takes me out of immersion, I don't want to be constantly reminded that I am sitting in a room playing a game.
It's a nice feature for inducing foreplay, though. Worked 2 times I had a girl over.

It actually makes me interested.

No more fisher price toy bullshit. Welcome to the modern era.
Yeah nothing like knowing that when the battery dies, the controller is just fucked. Who wants to just switch out Eneloops once a week when you could, instead, have to set the controller on a charging dock every time you finish playing to have three and a half hours of charge for the next gaming session.

Yes, the modern era.....quite glorious indeed.

One thing I hope the Sebile controller doesn't copy is the Dualsense trackpad. I tried using it on PC and it just feels like a waste of space.

In a matter of time MS will have an ugly clone of the DualSense with an odd sounding name.
Xbox HW is and has always been entirely derivative.

But Xbox fans have been saying for a decade that AA batteries are far better than rechargeable internal batteries.

Is this no longer the case?

So the battery gets fucked, maybe 7-8 years down the line. You're then incapable of using a screwdriver to then switch out the battery for a brand new one because...?

Internal battery is a must in 2024... I've never had to replace one in any of my other controllers...
Yeah but you have to tether them to your console to charge them. I've got AA eneloop set up from over a decade ago. Rechargable AA is the best of both worlds. My controllers have never known the confines of a cradle or a leash. They're free to go as they please. You should consider freeing your controllers from the leash and charging pen. It's 2025 after all.

How are PS3 archivists doing with their internal batteries? Has anyone checked on them recently? Been a few years, but last time I checked virtually ALL of the dual shock 3s on earth had dead, unrecoverable batteries.
