I thought next-gen engines were supposed to provide more streamlined/efficient workflow?
Along with Ubisoft's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier which also sold just over 400,000 units in the US
2-Another full jump in technology is going to stretch budgets even further, leading to an even greater divide between the have's and the have not's, leading to lesser, safer releases and a general elimination of the gaming middle class, as it were. I know a lot of people on gaf disagree with me on this one- more my personal opinion.
Nope. Amazon.ca is just a horrible place to buy games.Funny about the DD numbers. I had to wait a week for my copy because even amazon.ca was sold out of it. I figured it was selling like crazy.
The console hardware market needs to contract. We don't need 5 dedicated systems on store shelves anymore. The demand just isn't there.
Somebody really needs to bow out.
This! There are too many players for the market, IMO. I truly believe there will only be room for one dedicated handheld going forward. Now let's all argue bitterly over who should drop out.
I often wonder, with all the hardware costs and losses, might it not be easier and less stressful for someone like Sony to do third party?
The Eshop sucks and 3DS graphics should of been way above PSP level not just slightly better.
DD 92k..but Operation Raccoon City sold how much...? Yeah..
Nintendo reported that 70% of the 3DS users purchased an average of 5 eShop titles, so I wouldn't be so certain of that.

With the 360 and PS3 going into their 6-7 year cycle, there is no reason why these consoles should still be selling at $199-299.
Lower-end SKUs need to be priced at $99 a piece, while a premium SKU should go for no more than $199.

RE 6 will sell a lot it seems
I can see Dragon's Domga surviving as a niche portable title similar to how Valkyria Chronicles transitioned to hand helds.

Port it to WiiU and get rid of the tearing and slowdowns.

Good job on not advertising Dragon's Dogma at all, Capcom. Might as well just cull every single japanese dev you have left really, whats the point. Made more of an effort to bring that shitpiece RE:ORC to everyone's attentions than one of the best new original IP's you've made since DMC and Monster Hunter.
Time to kill the $60 price point.
So, from those 70%, people either have not bought an eShop game, and from those who have, they have bought on average 5?lol not quite...
People in the US who buy eShop titles buy an average of 5.
70% is total US who have connected to the internet.

It's the dedicated gaming platform industry that is under threat due to a whole lot of feet dragging from platform holders that keeps third parties from employing the pricing strategies and models everyone would be pursuing in a more healthily competitive market, as they already do in the various PC ecosystems and mobile markets.
Look at the #1 seller for this month, and when COD comes out to see who.who pays 60 dollars for games anymore
That pricing model fails for 7-year old hardware. It needs to be there at launch. You know Microsoft just launched this idea for the 360 right? Well at least the pricing model, not the hardware upgrades.
iOS has no problems dealing with fragmentation, and even the PC does fine with far worse fragmentation. Running the same game at different resolutions/framerates would fix the fragmentation issue.Besides you don't want a new upgrade every year because that could lead to heavy fragmentation.
isn't that really good for a handheld? in terms of iOS and considering average price of 3DS eShop games, I believe that will be equal to almost 15-20 iOS games in terms of revenue for almost 1 year? The 5-eShop-purchase average is for the 70% of 3DS owners who have connected to the Internet, I believe.
Supposedly.
This is probably one of the main reasons people buy consoles and not PCs; they are not fine with fragmentation, because most high end PC exclusive games look like shit on lower end devices; while there are console games that look very good, despite being comparable to those lower end PCs in terms of power.iOS has no problems dealing with fragmentation, and even the PC does fine with far worse fragmentation. Yeah it reads like PR for November 2012.

Well, their lineup this year is pretty bad really.
