Who to trust when it comes to putting a finger on the pulse of the Japanese gamer - some random Youtuber, or one of the greatest game developers of all time, Hideki Kamiya?

To be honest, I really thought it that way in the beginning, but when you play the game, you realize that the plot is very similar to the one in Shogun, Yasuke is basically a prisoner slave and Nobunaga likes him because he is strong, he sees a warrior in his eyes. That's why he becomes his ally and then a samurai. This happened with the movie The Last Samurai as well, but nobody complained about this because Tom Cruise is white. Honestly I believe there is a bit if racism involved in this situation even if its involuntary
So far I have not seen anything that screams DEI while playing the game. Yasuke is well integrated in the story in my opinion, otherwise I would've mentioned this somewhere here. I never bite my tongue when it comes to opinions
I think this goes to show that radicalism is always poisoning when it comes to politics. At first I was on board with people complaining about wokism because I could see that this is bad for games. But as a result of this, now any sign of DEI is already judged without giving it a chance and that leads to a situation where people might be unfair to certain games just because of appearances
And to be honest, right now I can see that the people that was against wokism they were just grifters because if you see their content, its all negativity and clickbait. There is no conversation or middle ground, just hatred. I dont want that for gaming either
Bad joke I guess I'll delete it
It seems that there was black samurai in feudal Japan. Same as it was quite common for samurai to be gay/bi.

A game industry dev who was once hired by a big Western gaming company doesn’t want to make enemies with another big Western gaming company so that automatically means the average Japanese gamer loves playing as a black gay samurai, and all those negative Japanese reviews don’t matter… because reasons.
He isn’t gay though. Not sure why anyone would have a problem playing as a black samurai. Well, I know one reason.A game industry dev who was once hired by a big Western gaming company doesn’t want to make enemies with another big Western gaming company so that automatically means the average Japanese gamer loves playing as a black gay samurai, and all those negative Japanese reviews don’t matter… because reasons.
lol you guys are coping so hard![]()
Nah bro, he’s just tongue-kissing his homie but he said ‘no homo,’ so it’s all good lmaoHe isn’t gay though.

Yup, the player is the gay one here not my man YasukeThat’s a player choice.
If you’re a man playing the game and actively pursue another man, I’d say it’s you who’s gay since the character is your avatar.Yup, the player is the gay one here not my man Yasuke![]()
I'm agreeing with you bro, why are you seethingIf you’re a man playing the game and actively pursue another man, I’d say it’s you who’s gay since the character is your avatar.
What’s next, commander Shepard is gay?

Another person that literally is too dumb I suppose to understand player choice in an rpg.Yup, the player is the gay one here not my man Yasuke![]()

you've been disingenuous about this whole thing. The fake outrage of repping Japanese cultural sensitivity is such a grift.I'm agreeing with you bro, why are you seething![]()

Probably what Yasuke feels like.
Dude thinking about BBC 24/7 lmaoTonight, BBC is going to mean more than the British Broadcasting Corporation."
"The Chairman closes his eyes, reaches for the lube, and flicks the forbidden 'canon mode' option to off...
Tonight, BBC is going to mean more than the British Broadcasting Corporation."
BBC2 because the BBC1 hard drive is getting fullFile named BBC2 onKiller8 computer.
Wow, didn’t know you still played Battlefield Bad Company 2.
Killer8: Yeah, hahaha, Battlefield Bad Company 2, that’s exactly what it is…
Honestly, how so? It's just a video game. If you turn off canon mode, you are accepting that you will deviate from historical accuracy.but it's distasteful/disrespectful, no?
Imagine you are a great man who survived slavery and proven yourself as a great worrier in a foreign country to become the first black samurai and then after many years of being dead a French company depicts you as a dude that loves to get railed in the ass any chance he get to meet a non-binary Japanese samurai. extremely disrespectfuli mean, it's a bit *off* that you can take a countries icons force them into gay sex scenarios on the world stage in complete opposition with how they acted historically. Player choice and all that, but it's still kinda messed up. Two samurais banging/kissing/heavy petting on screen? I mean... Imagine doing that with other cultural icons, you can do it, but it's distasteful/disrespectful, no?
The man died doing what he loved, defending Ubisoft games.

you honestly don't how it could appear disrespectful to take cultural icons and put them in compromising scenarios completely incongruent with their character? It's like taking Mickey/Minnie Mouse and putting them in a porno. Or Ghandi. Or Mother Teresa. Point is not whether the player can chose, it's not their culture. You're taking someone else's culture and portraying it in that manner. Some might find that offensive, particularly those that take pride in their history and culture.Honestly, how so? Ghandi
Although she had 517 missions in 100 countries at the time of her death, the study found that hardly anyone who came seeking medical care found it there. Doctors observed unhygienic, "even unfit," conditions, inadequate food, and no painkillers -- not for lack of funding, in which Mother Theresa's world-famous order was swimming, but what the study authors call her "particular conception of suffering and death."

Seriously? Isn't this the type of pearl-clutching you are opposed to see from liberals about being sensitive towards DEI? Why make an exception here for Japanese sensitivities?you honestly don't how it could appear disrespectful to take cultural icons and put them in compromising scenarios completely incongruent with their character? Yeah man, how dare Ubisoft do that .. no other game would even think of doing something like that in a similar setting.. certainly not that one that came out very recently ..

I don't have any skin in the game and don't particularly care about anyone else's culture. I just found it amusing that you have no idea how this could be disrespectful to someone who values their culture and icons.Seriously? Lots of people find different things disrespectful based on culture\religion. There world is to big for game developers to be worrying about well some certain section of the community find this disrespectful. They should make the game they want and let the community decide if they want to buy it or not.didn't say they couldn't, didn't say they haven'tJust noted that some that have high regard for their cultures might find it disrespectful. Certainly if you have no sense of culture or bask in irreverence, this may seem surprising to you.
We all understand why the shrine priests and what not feel ACS is disrespectful to Japan. We just don't think it matters and that a bunch of grifters like yourself are jumping in to defend them.didn't say they couldn't, didn't say they haven'tJust noted that some that have high regard for their cultures might find it disrespectful. Guys, just come out of the closet already. We're all family here.

OkHonestly, how so?
The shrine priests don't play video games, so I can see how they might find it disrespectful. I don't understand why a gamer on a gaming enthusiast forum against woke and dei practices finds it disrespectful to a culture they don't belong to.

Mickey is now in public domain so I'm sure that will happen. lol, just take the L sir. You said you couldn’t imagine how this could be offensive to someone who values their culture. I showed you why it may be offending some in that culture. You realized that yes, it could be offensive to them, and admitted it.You also said,
taking a stance on someone else's culture.
Nah, he was cool with the fact that you fist fight the pope, plunder churches, desecrate Muslim villages, hell even kill Muslim leaders, but choosing to plunder a Japanese shrine is off limit. Hmmm...Then you dont seem to understand the concept of choice in an rpg.
Your tag makes sense.
Nah, fam. I said why is it disrespectful/distasteful to you.You said you couldn’t imagine how this could be offensive to someone who values their culture.
As a guy from poland i fully understand my japanese bros, ubi devs aka french canadians still suffer from some kind of mental problems(white man guilt? serves them well for colonising half of africa) and they put in black protag in feudal japan, not some side character thats meaningless but protag that changes the history.
Its crazy disgrace and ubi deserves to be punished for it, game gonna perform well below expectactions.
To our american bros thinking how come- imagine Luke Cage in the middle of harlem being white ginger skinny effeminate dude instead of this one we got:
Think of it ubi making luke cage game, in the middle of harlem and he is played by mashinegun kelly:
Yasuke in traditional samurai armor looks extremly historically inacurate:
It looks just as artocious as black german soldiers in ww1, which battlefield1 did
Or black german nazi soldiers in ww2 that cod vanguard did, or female soldiers on the frontline(while we know it was only female sniper units on the soviet side, aka no close combat).
Wokeism, feminism and political correctness newer makes game better, for some its neutral, for most it makes games worse.
