Nintendo Direct Announced For April 2, 2025 - 6AM PT, 9AM ET, 2PM UK, 3PM CEST

Excited to disappointed! Here's what I've got on my bingo card:

-1080p (lol)
-Switch 1 backwards compatability with no visual upgrades whatsoever, They'll charge £29.99 per upgrade obvs
-No Achievements system
-Nintendo Switch 2 online exclusive emulators wont transfer from switch one and will be 2x the price to subscribe to
-C button is "clown makeup application" for those dissapointed about the lack of 4k and the lack of a new F-Zero game.

I would just like to see this tech demo again, but as actual gameplay. This demo is the essence of Zelda come to its full fruition.
I think this is what the next Zelda should be. It's almost 20 years ago since we got a "realistic" style.

Or maybe they could do a Zelda where you travel through dimensions or something like that. So, a Zelda game with different visual styles ;)

Now, isn't that a great idea? Like a greatest hits sort of thing. Link has to go through all his older "timelines" to find Zelda.

If you are playing handheld only, then yeah I guess. I've got a 4070 and a 4K display though, 1080 doesn't cut it anymore, especially the switch 1's 1080p output. it looks awful by today's standards. If the rumors about it having DLSS compatability are true, then its absolutely retarded for them to gimp the switch 2 with a 1080p only output when they could just DLSS everything up to 4k. I'm happy to be proven wrong, but we all know what Nintendo are like.

I swear PC gamers are the vegans of gaming. Yes we get it you have an expensive graphics card, this is the Nintendo Direct thread...

I was replying to amigastar with that as they had a 4070. It's not relevant to the Nintendo Direct. What is relevant is that I'm willing to bet that the majority of users here will have a 4K display, so Nintendo not allowing a 4k output, upscaled or not would be disappointing. We'll see though.

Agree. I play the Switch with my daughter or whole family and we play on the big screen almost exclusively.

I would take any type of upscaled version of the Switch output over not allowing it at all.

Same, 4K on 4070, not every game does it but if not, DLSS is a 4K enabler. However... On my LG Oled, 4K upscaling seems quite effective so if I ever connect my PC through it, I might go 1080@120 instead of 4K60.

That being said, I highly doubt that Switch 2 will be any higher than 1080@60.

Running any Nintendo game in an Emulator shows that a simply resolution bump is enough to give their games a nice visual upgrade. Especially when you compare them to the regular Switch output.

Any Xenoblade looks amazing at higher resolutions.

Yes I know it's not perfect, draw distance for grass is low, geometry is low poly... but if you compare them to how they look on native hardware a simple res bump is similar to a generational upgrade.

Nintendo released 4k screenshots for XB3 themselves (you could get them via rewards)

when you bump up the resolution in XB3 it can look like a PS4 game in some areas.

I agree, but we are still waiting on the Madden Xbox 360 reveal trailer as well! Haha.

A traditional Zelda with these graphics is way overdue.
You'll get your BotW remastered and will thank Nintendo for it.

For real, I'm so excited, but the initial Mario Kart reveal has tampered my expectations a bit.

I wonder what they have in stock.

My hopes :
  • New 3D DK
  • New 3D Mario => more exploration oriented with giant sandboxes, with gameplay features from SMB2 USA (using and launching vegetables, bombs and ennemies) and Yoshi's Island with Yoshi and the eggs, all of this with outfits that offers unique powers allowing you to progress in the worlds
  • Earthbound remake (one day...)
  • Zelda AlttP full 3D remake => we won't have a new episode for a long time, and they need a Zelda for their launch, let's be honest, so it could be a good way to reinvent this episode with updated and new puzzles.
  • StarFox 1 remake (or a new one) pushing the Switch 2 graphics capabilities => with everything on rail and no second screen (like in Zero), it could really be a good showcase for a launch title
  • New IP
  • IP Revival (Muramasa Castle, Star Tropics ?)
  • New Monolith but ARPG this time, please... I can't enjoy these battle system anymore
  • Mario Kart of course
  • And in a long time, after MP4, a new 3D 3rd person Metroid Action/platformer/shooter akin to Returnal with more emphasis on platforming (and without the rogue aspect of course). By a japanese developer please (Nintendo, From Software or Capcom). No Mercury Steam...

Persona 4 Reload tomorrow?

Or will we see Persona 6 announcement. It's possible, but probably not

Atlus will be there Im sure of it

I just hope there's not too much time burned on third party port stuff. Like Assassins Creed Mirage or Red Dead 2 or whatever, stuff that's cool to get for a certain audience but most of us played long ago. Mostly new games please.

I haven't really heard rumors about a new Mario game, but it has to be releasing with a new Mario game. It'll be nowhere near as powerful as the other consoles but it should be pretty solid at 1080p. They can actually make a good looking game.

What are the rumors for the storage size? Call of Duty will be a tight fit.

Final Fantasy IX Remake
Resident Evil something (IX, new remake or Revelations etc)
Surprise Oblivion remake/ster announcement

These are pretty much the only 3 things I'm seeking out of this show. Not really interested in a lot of Nintendo IP or old games being announced for Nintendo hardware here.

Can't see xbox announcing new games at other people's events. Not just yet anyways.

Also hope for something better than remakes man come on.
