Well you have been collecting more likes from adamsapple adamsapple than usual.

There's also a big difference between simply enjoying the games and going around gaslighting people who are speaking out about the glaringly obvious political agendas these games and/or their studios have.

lol......@adamsapple and I will be at odds on things soon enough I'm sure. I'll not get into the political sides of it. Think I've said all I'm going to say on that for this game. But just to underline that point: enjoying the game for what it is as a game isn't necessarily endorsing any political agendas the game may have. I think that is an important distinction to make.

To the folks who spent $70.00 for this game. you have my respect.
I will say one lesson learned almost 1.5 decades ago is never buy ubi games full price at launch. $40/30 within a couple months in the standard… similar to Sega.

Either way, I think Ubi is fucked. Even if it sells ok they are not in the financial condition for "ok", they need a smash hit.

The political agenda angle is completely idiotic and proof no one making that even touched the game. The game is Kill Bill in Feudal Japan. The story is about a hot female Shinobi whose father is murdered by a group of masked Samurai and crazies, and she is hunting down that group one-by-one. After killing two of them her path crosses with Yasuke, who's basically the Hulk with a Katana and acts as the muscle to her stealth in her quest. He's almost played for laughs as his size makes him big and clumsy and there's even a trophy titled "Leap of Fail" making fun of how he just flails off a jump in a hilarious way.

Even the grifters on X have given up this argument after people pointed out that AC is traditionally a console-heavy game and they don't have access to console numbers to weaponize for their monetized engagement grift. The game is at high user scores on both PS and Xbox, showing people there are enjoying it. That's the only public facing numbers we have from the consoles; aside from regional "top games" rankings on PSN.

Of course a game from a major franchise is going to be a top seller on release days, even if it's a flop and only sells 1 million, it's not something that games sell every day outside of their release date.

I rented it for $18, price of 3 ☕️. Good for me but horrible for them.

It's already at more than that. It's passed AC Origins and Odyssey's launches already.
It has surpassed it in number of players, not buyers, when Origins and Odyssey were launched there was no Ubisoft +. Also a bit suspicious that they are announcing these ''great milestones'' day by day don't you think?

Not suspicious when your stock ain't doing so good and you need to promote as much good news as you can.

Apparently Ubisoft paid Microsoft to put this ad on every xbox out there whenever it gets turned on.

I wonder how many people this convinced to buy the game vs how many people were put off by it.
If this shit happened to me for sure I'd swear I'd never fucking touch the damned product in my life.

I don't think I can describe what I wish happened to people who come up with intrusive ads without getting put in some kind of watchlist.

Embarrassing. Hope PS5 never do that shit.

AC Shadows might match Odyssey's CCU peak this weekend though it seems to already be plateauing. Not to mention, the Steam concurrent player count today is much higher than back in 2018 so Odyssey is technically at a disadvantage.

It's not suspicious at all, lol. Considering the long standing rumors of the Tencent force-arming, they will do this shit for every million they unlock.

Did you forget the grand standing E3 dance show they did the year after Vivendi's rumored take-over died down?

Not sure who its a victory for, I dont like the incel nonsense.

The use of 'incel' here is mocking those who are in a moral panic over it. tl;dr: a load of people were labelled incels who are not incels, with those labelled now openly mocking the whole thing.

I'm having so much fun reading this thread. If hopium killed, this thread would be the overdose capital of the world. Both sides just can't help themselves :messenger_tears_of_joy:

2 million PLAYERS in 48 hours is terrible

You know what success looks like??

Monster Hunter Wilds, 8 million SOLD in 72 hours
What a joke, being the 2nd fastest selling AC game means it's on track to sell over 20M copies like the other recent big AC games.

They can track in their servers the amount of players in real time. But can't know the sales in retailers in real time, they need some days to get these reports.

First because retailers don't report stuff in real time, and second because some people buy the game but take some time before playing it (and well, some may have bought it at launch and still didn't receive it), or in some cases by a game and keep it in the backlong and never play it.

They also shouldn't have a huge amount of Ubisoft+ subbers in the tier where you get this game day one, pretty likely represents a relatively small percent of the players.

They're not talking about sell here, they're still counting players which is including their U+ subs 😂😂😂

Yup, i remember pretty well when any conservative or even moderate(by the 90s standard) person was considered a nazi, mysogynist pig, white supremacists and all kinds of shit, it was meant to shame the normal ppl for not having leftists believes, same way they call non woke gamers chuds/incels etc.
The thing is- they forgot gamers cant be shamed, we arent young women, those are receptive to shaming(or at least were in the past, nowadays being single mom/slut/of girl is normalised in the west already ;)- gamers were shamed for our hobby for decades, and still are, and we dont give a damn :D

Why does everyone suddenly think that Ubisoft+ has a ton of subscribers?

It's only available on Xbox and PC (premium) and how many people on xbox do you think would have this and probably GamePass?

I could see people signing up for the service just for this game and canceling after beating the game though, especially on PC, but that's still revenue (18 dollars) that wouldn't be subject to Steam royalties. So you're talking about 18 dollars vs ~56 dollars, but then again we know it is the #1 best selling game on steam globally or was.

It doesn't seem to be doing great on Steam (under CS2) but I think it's way too early for people proclaiming it to be a flop.

Being #2 still on PSN in the US to MLB The Show is probably a bigger problem for them.

I never put too much "stock" in players unless it's an active multiplayer game.

But it looks to be performing well on the sales charts on PlayStation and Steam.

Now we can wait for the usual sales charts to see how well it's performing.

The games costs $70. Ubi's premium service costs $18 for a month. Don't sleep on the amount of people who will choose to sub for a month and cancel. We've been conditioned to it at this point.

Its the second fastest selling Assassins Creed game, losing out only to Valhalla which also had the benefit of coming out during the pandemic when general spending on Videogames was up.

This game is already on track to being a success, its reviewing well and selling well.

The Anti-Woke crowd always have something.
If a game reviews well its because of paid shills.
If a game sells well its not selling as much as that other game so its actually not selling well.

Give it up.
You dont like the game, put the topic on mute so you dont have to see people enjoying the game and its success since it seems to affect you so.
Its not good for your mental health.

Would you buy it for $70 if that was the only option though?

Granted, they do lose some money from people who sub for just one month for major games instead of buying. But they certainly profit from Ubisoft+ as a whole or they wouldn't continue it.

The next meta will be why it hasn't done the numbers of a GTA V in the first week.

Clearly that means it's a massive bomba and Ubisoft will be liquidating by the end of the month.

Oh and throw in a "oh you closet-ERA member you" on the side for good measure 🤭

I personally don't think the game will do well at all; but people frothing on both sides over meaningless numbers this early, that are above their pay grades anyway, need to chill.

The bigger context with Valhalla is that it didn't release on Steam until 25 months later, meaning Ubisoft made good money (i.e. not needing to pay Valve 30%) from their own storefront and the Epic store.

And if we want to do a more apples-to-apples comparison with Odyssey, that game was a PS4/XB1 game on a smaller budget. Not to mention, the cumulative inflation rate from 2018 to now is about 27% so $60 back then equals to $76.20 today.

Not sure. A lot of these subscription services seem to be just hoping that it will all pay off 'eventually'.

We don't know if it's second fastest selling, because that's not what they said.

1 Million is terrible
2 Million is terrible

Soon 3+ million will be terrible.

There are 2 problems with that statement.
One is that this is a very expensive game to make. Probably between 200-250 million. Maybe more with advertising.
The second is that those 2 million are not full priced copies sold. Part of it are subscriptions and someone that pays 18$ is very far from the 70$ of a full priced game.

We can chat all we want about this, but because it's a publicly traded company, we will know eventually whether it has hit their sales target through public filings and shareholder meetings (along with a potential purchase).

Enjoy the discussion I suppose, but I'll just wait for something more official rather than marketing promotions.
