Unless it's free there's no way I'm getting one.
Also
Way too deep into the ecosystems of the platforms I already use. Not tryin to build up another library at this point.

Edit djjinx2 djjinx2 it's not a mystery, clam down lol. Why you so mad about this? Did Microsoft pay your mortgage or something?

This year will be my last year with xbox hardware sadly. That Nvidia presentation sold me on the rtx 5xxx series. That and gamepass pc is dirt cheap too compared to xbox gpu.

Boy does OP's like history on this thread tell a biased story.

This is why XboxGAF has been going to the shitter. As if a thread title like that would stand for PS.

No wonder I post way less on gaming side in recent years here.

Yeah " history of failures " is pretty harsh. I don't think anything has actually " failed " . I guess if you go by the Ricky Bobby " if you ain't first your last " ?

First of all this Xbox Prime thing is obviously just bs. But apart from that, no I would definitely think twice about buying an Xbox ever again. I've been there since the first Xbox launched in Europe in March 2002. I even forgave them for the Xbox One blunders and finally got the console as well as the One S and One X (brilliant console). I really like my Series X, as a piece of hardware it's great. But the controller is not, which is just one thing that's been disappointing about Xbox this gen. Now Xbox is clearly moving away from exclusives altogether so I will probably see no need in buying an Xbox next time.

I expect the next Xbox to be:
- an expensive piece of hardware for the few remaning enthusiasts
- with no disc drive
- without exclusive games

So why should I put money there when I can buy a PS6 instead? Boosting my gamerscore isn't reason enough.

I'm interested in the next generation Xbox but I would like assurance that my library will be safe if the console goes belly up. So I really would like Microsoft to provide a detailed plan that the Xbox library will be transferable/accessible on the PC in the future. And not just as a cloud service, but full native support of all games.

Other than that I'd like there to be a high end, powerful console. I don't think I'd be interested if it's just a handheld device.

No, because they don't really have exclusives that I would buy a console for. I only bought the xbox last gen for the 4k movie player and never played the 2 games I bought for it.

Depends what it is. Hopefully it's more open. If Microsoft bring good hardware and are forward thinking I'll buy it, but not if it's just a spec bump for the same tired old console philosophy. I definitely won't be buying PS6 or Switch 2 though (unless they change, which they won't… yet). I'm done buying hardware because of exclusives.

Definitely. It will probably be better than a PlayStation again next gen.
It will easily dwarf ps5pr0 power, but assumming xbox prime is 999usd and using nvidia gpu, its pretty ez, nvidia just announced their 5090/80/70ti/70 cards, so even tho we wont get 5090 in new xbox, we might get something around 5070ti
Ofc it will be downclocked to meet console form factor/powerdraw requirements, but die size of 377 mm² for gpu alone (so around 400 including cpu) would be the max.
Keep in mind its tsmc 4nm manufacturing process already so no way microsoft manages to make it smaller by substantial margin, maybe 3nm but its a bit of a stretch.

Nvidia provided performance estimations for it too:
nvidia-geforce-rtx-5070-ti-performance-chart-scaled.jpg

And we know exactly what 4070ti is capable of:

Likely 5070ti gonna be around 4080s if we dont count in dlss4 so still around 30% power increase which is great, now vs ps5pr0 its: 4070 vs 4080s so 61% jump and that is w/o dlss4.
Cpu wise we obviously wont get topend pc cpu but we will definitely get much more capable cpu from zen2 which is what current gen consoles got so huge plus in that area too.

TLDR: Even if that xbox prime is estimated 60% stronger from ps5pr0 gpu wise, has faster(30% at least, likely even more) cpu, some mild vram increase to maybe 20 or 24gigs total, its great deal for 1k usd vs what ps5pr0 is offering at 700 w/o discdrive, as long as microsoft will provides us with plethora of games- and that is prime's weakness so far.

It's possible to accumulate up to 2x the PS5 Pro, because $1,000 will be the retail price if MS subsidizes it because the total value of the console like this would theoretically be $1,299. When the PS6 is released, M$ will cut prices. I believe it is viable to sell 8 M units at full price.

To be clear tho, I don't think MS wants to invest in making consoles. It's the subscriptions and the software that makes the vast majority of money.

I think they view the console as a necessary evil to sell those things. If they could get around the R&D costs of consoles and still sell equal subs, they would. Thus everything's an Xbox and 3rd party consoles become a thing.

Can't see myself ever going back. I was all in for OG Xbox and 360. Then they seemed to lose interest in people like me back half of 360 lifecycle. They are now firmly cemented in my mind as people who care more about new ways to capture revenue and perception than just making great games.

Of course, I also feel like Sony has been losing its way too. So never say never I guess.

PS6 is an Xbox.

When the Series X was released at TGA I was like okay Phil you made me want this.

Now being nearly 5 years into this gen it's a wait and see for their next Console. It will not be day 1.

Nah, even if it's a shitload more powerful than the PS5 Pro I still wouldn't touch it.

Once my GPU expires i'll probably give away my Series X, that's the only use it gets.
