Goes down to Sony not knowing how to produce these. You can't show games people are uninterested in for 38 minutes and then land on a game that would otherwise be interesting. People are tuned out at that point and the result is, "Cool.... I guess?"
Nintendo are the only ones that have mastered showcase pacing. Everyone else either dumps all of the best stuff in the first half/beginning or all of the best stuff in the second half.

I can only count a single digit amount of times where Nintendo had nothing to show (That one back-to-back farming simulator game showcase was the roughest of them all).

The showcase was filled with shovelware indies, derivative AA titles, questionable remasters, and sequels nobody asked for. I would rate it a resounding F.

Honestly, I can't rate it higher than D and it only got a D because of the new Shinobi game we already knew existed, but to see it being done by Lizardcube was nice. Other than that, lmFao.

I expected it at their summer showcase, not this early in the year

Who gives a toss? It shows the main character, world, and art style. And it’s right up my alley.

We can’t get excited for cg trailers?

How can you say it's right up your alley when we haven't even seen the game and they barely told us anything about it?

I rated it with B
Yeah, the first half was pretty disappointing, but then they showed some nice stuff which at least looked like it could be cool games.
For example things like Metal Eden, Metal Gear, Mindseye, Directive 8020, Hell is us, Lies of P DLC. i will wait how they will turn out.

I had a love/hate relationship with Returnal, so I loved to hear about Saros from Housemarque. I will most likely buy it close to release.
And Split Fiction looks like a must have after the last 2 games by this dev.

What was shown should be just an appetizer for the real games. But nope that was the whole thing lol.

Sony is just garbage at this point . How the king from the ps1 and ps2 days has fallen…

Tides of Annihilation Was the only game that prevented me from giving the show an F

I don't know how to rate these things because I've realized my own personal tastes nowadays aren't really that aligned with current industry trends, at least in the AAA space. I'm sure for those whom alot of these games cater to, there's great stuff to look forward to.

I will just finish silent hill 2 remake, and once I completed it, I'm done, ps5 shutdown for a long time. Sony has to be better on ps6 era. Well nintendo switch 2 will have more exclusives and will be more exciting.

There's something we can all agree which is having another Housemarque game so soon is pretty good.

Returnal carried the PS5 in that year and they are about to do it again

Show started out bad but in the end I was fucking sold. A show for me.

Loved the Tides of Annihilation, MindsEye, Lost Soul Aside, Metal Eden, and Saros. All new IPs and all looking awesome.

Great State of Play in my opinion :messenger_sunglasses:

E3 died for this. We waited so long for a state of play since this is what they do now and it sucked ass

Because you can tell clear as day that it’s the spiritual successor to Returnal, one of the best games this generation, without the menopausal protagonist people like you cry about?

They could have been forced to chase some other trends but they didn’t

C+ for me personally, maybe it should be lower for me, lol.

Moderately hyped for Snake Eater, already saw that trailer.
Moderately hyped for Onimusha
Above moderately hyped for Sonic Racing: Crossworlds
Above moderately hyped for Lies of P DLC
Moderately hyped for Shinobi

Some fine stuff. But nothing mind blowing for me personally. Glad I wasn't expecting anything lmao.

When I rate a state of play or Xbox show or Nintendo direct I rate beaded on the exclusives they have for their platform not multiplatform games and they only showed one exclusive game coming in 2026 so it an F

A+ for me

-If I'm alive, Days Gone has a number 1 fan. Remake doesn't look like it really remade anything, but I'll support Deek wherever he goes.
-MindsEye pretty much became my most wanted announced game by the time the trailer was over, so that's awesome. Big Leslie fan. One of my goats.
-Tides of Annihilation and Hell is Us both look really cool.
-Returnal sequel. Haven't played it yet, but now that my GPU is upgraded I'll grab it next time on sale. Love shmups so it should be great.

That's 2 new single player IPs that actually look promising and 1 that looks like a legit AAA GOTY contender. I'll take it. None of which appear to be locked onto console?

It almost seems they find joy in killing any trace of passion and wonder from the videogame industry…

This generation is impregnated with mediocrity, lack of passion and incompetence from the platform holders.. what a shit show..

F winning? I'm near convinced that some of the people here on GAF aren't even real gamers.
There's a dozen options which just dilutes everything. What's guaranteed though is some are always going to just head straight for the bottom rating possible for obvious reasons. End result - shit poll for a shit SoP, so fitting really.

C for me. Was quite happy at the beginning with a lot of Japanese games. And then it turned into the usual state of play.
