Ita been four years. I expected it and it's basically a reskinned Returnal.

They showed no gameplay. We have no idea how it plays vs Returnal.

also, Returnal is actually the one great new game Sony put out this gen. I’ll take a reskin of that over Horizon Lego Fortnite and Babies First Gran Turismo and This Zombie Game Runs at 4k/60 but Let’s Remaster It Anyway.

New Onimusha looks hype af
MGS Delta looks like what I remember playing from the PS3 version but with "current gen" graphics, so that's a day 1 if possible
Stellar Blade 2, electric boogaloo looked cool
MindsEye or whatever looked cool
Saros, the only Sony's saving grace for now

Solid B

B+ for me.

Lost Soul Aside looks great, could be this year's Stellar Blade.
I'm a big fan of the Onimusha series so I'm really happy that Samurai's Destiny is coming soon in May and the 2026 game seems fantastic.

Directive 8020 from Supermassive looks great.

Tides of Annihilation looks absolutely fantastic, truly next gen graphics, fantastic atmosphere.

MindsEye also seems really cool basically Cyberpunk+GTA.
Sony also contributed with the next IP from Housemarque which is basically another take on Returnal which will be fantastic and the Days Gone Remaster.
I would have liked to see something about Death Stranding 2 but it seems like there will be an event dedicated to it in March. Also Microsoft could have used the event to drop Indiana Jones and Forza trailers.

Don't know what some people are expecting from these events, they're not E3 conferences where all publishers feel forced to announce all their big guns for the next 3-4 years all at once. That marketing era is dead. It's not just Sony, everyone has moved on from that.

Not nuts, just a normal gamer that's excited about playing some great games in the future.

I don’t really understand how one can walk away from this showing without being excited for anything.

Onimusha first gameplay, The Midnight Walk looks incredible, Directive 8020 looks stunning, Split Fiction continues to look great, Saros reveal was hype as fuck, etc.. etc..

And the focus was on largely single player games! Not gaas!

I thought it was very solid.

Easy C for me. There's more than a few things in there that look pretty cool. And new Housemarque is ok as far as a 2026 announcement.

However, many of those games are not getting purchased by me... that's for sure. But that's true of just about every one of these kinds of events, no matter which company its for.

A lot of people are just instantly dismissive of every little thing these days. A little strange, as an enthusiast gamer with a wide pallet of tastes.

I understand that there were no MASSIVE IPs at this state of play, and a lot of what was shown was new IPs, but....isn't that something to get excited about too....? Yeah, I just don't get it. Everyone is bitter about everything, meanwhile 2025 is shaping up to be a friggin amazing year of games yet again across the board. So much good stuff coming out Spring/Fall/Summmer....not even including the massive IP hits like GTA6 potentially

Think you're confused about what expectations are on a PLAYSTATION show.

They want playstation games, while some indie here and there should be okay, people expect high quality playstation games. If you dont deliver that, then you can't blame the crowd.

No, YOU ARE CONFUSED

It's a STATE OF PLAY....IN FEBRUARY

IT'S NOT A SONY STUDIOS SHOWCASE

Trash to me. Every game shown was basically a multiplat and Soros looks like it’s going to be on some Returnal shit which I wasn’t a fan of that game. You can tell Sony is lax now that Microsoft has basically thrown in the towel. State of plays usually relied on Sony studios but clearly that is no longer the case since it’s now the default console of choice.

I don’t know how anyone can watch that and still come away thinking PS5 isn’t Sony’s worst gen.
There's a few shareholders on the forum that would have you thinking PS5 has the best games lineup of any Sony console. Thankfully it's a small group lol. I

I think Sony actually did damage with this show. I'm far less interested in PS5 after watching that bore-fest than I was before watching it. That state of play was hype deflating like we're five years into the cycle and this is what they're cooking.. no thanks, I'll pass. First time ever watching one of these and it making me not want to buy the console.

Woah, I'm pretty surprised at the scoring here. Didn't think it was unbelievable or anything and probably weaker than some of their more recent SoPs but I still voted B.

Tides of annihilation and saros look super intriguing to me. Just disappointed with the dates, Saros being 2026 and Tides just having an "in development" post. But I liked a couple of smaller titles shown. Shinobi looked really good and something I would be day 1 for. Plus the midnight walk and Darwin's paradox seems like stuff up my ally. As long as they don't bomb in reviews, I think I'll be there day 1 as well

You were never interested in a PS5, you're a PCMR fanatic. The only reason you tuned in was to see the PC announcements.

If you were expecting an E3 style showcase, then yeah, I can understand D or F, but for a State of Play? This is one of the better ones, B, B- for me.

That wasn't a great showing for Onimusha, sadly. Combo that with Capcom asking $29.99 for Onimusha 2 is only slightly less offensive than Warriors Abyss turning a $24.99 product into a $79.99 product with all the costume DLC.

I'm in for MGS3 Delta though.

Rated it an F. Cannot believe (and it's quite ironic) that Microsoft, of all companies, will be the ones prepping up the Playstation foir the forseeable future! It's almost to the point where you need to ask yourself, do you really need a Playstation anymore when you can just have an Xbox console? Where the fuck are the exclusives Sony? And I'm not talking remasters FFS...

I saw plenty of games that I want to play, so I gave it a B. I would have liked to see more Sony first party games. At least we know what Housemarque is up to now with Returnal 2, except it's a dude on a different planet but in the daytime.

I think like it was posted above, the format is getting stale and just doesn't work anymore, a bunch of trailers slapped together with minor introductions for some games is not gonna add to the hype, if it had more production value built to it, like idk make individual intros for every game could be more attractive, but then again, they cut corners with this style of showing and it shows

Not asking Sony E32015 here, but more than just "here, look, some trailers one after the other with the ps buttons doing the transitions to each one, be happy we added that bitch"

Want Now:
Monster Hunter Wilds(i dunno if im going to commit to it day 1 though in terms of playing it because these type of games are time consuming)
Shinobi Art of Vengeance
Lost Soul Aside
Split Fiction
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
Stellar Blade DLC
Saros(I know I know, there was no gameplay but this is Housemarque, i'm making an exception for them)

Interested:
Hell is Us
Tides of Annihilation
Borderlands 4
Sonic Racing Cross Worlds
Mindseye

Lower interest:
Dreams of Another(im more interested because of who the devs are and I played their games in the past, mainly the PixelJunk games)
Directive 8020

Grade overall: D+

In terms of 1st Party, it is what it is. You should know why things are the way they are by now.

The failure of this show, with lack of games and uninteresting content is the result of arrogant Sony being back in full force! They are once again acting like they are invincible. Happened when they went into PS3 with success of PS2 and again with PS5 from success of PS4.

This has been one of the slowest shittiest generations.

pretty bad. the one and only highlight was seeing gameplay for Onimusha and Sonic Racing... the rest was pretty forgettable or just more of what we've already seen.

Housmarque's new game didn't show any real gameplay, so not interesting to me so far.

That’s funny. The complaint with these shows always used to be “enough fluff and bullshit. Just show us the games!”

Outside of the Metal Gear Solid Delta trailer, which leaked, there wasn't a single game there I would consider buying at full price, or even close to full price. I give it a D, and that's being generous.

Getting trailer after trailer without any hype does nothing for me but probably SoP are the way to go for the majority, I don't like it but can't do anything about it either
