Yeesh. Must've done 25-30k worldwide at retail by this point. Poor Tearaway.
on the plus side every copy is now a collector's edition.

Yeah, there is that.on the plus side every copy is now a collector's edition.
I think they cared, they just couldn't do anything about it. It was advertised and bundled. If people don't want a Vita though, you can't sell 'em Vita games.I feel sorry for the developers that put their hearts and souls into the game and it flops, I guess Sony knew about this and didn't care...
Ignoring HW sales, getting beaten by Sony on Ghosts and BF4 sales is the most terrifying thing that has happened to MS. This is signaling that the hardcore base is moving to PS4 even in the US.

Yeah, there is that.
...sniffle.
3ds improved year over year. it's in the first post. i think pokemon, the 2ds, the bundles, and zelda all brought sales up, but it really should have brought sales over a million. december will be especially telling because the 3ds did really well in december 2012 compared to its november (more than doubling sales).

I'm fortunate enough to have an environment conducive to remote play. My dream lives on.just enjoy 2014 man. consider it a last hurrah.
Oh, now you are jogging my memory. I had that game and some mech game as well. I remember the mech game looked pretty cool at the time with the amount of polygons but I have just never been into mechs.
Maybe I underestimated the effect of marketing exclusive on a platform.

Tearaway had been in development for more than 2 years, before the Vita was even released.
Sony hates this situation more than anyone else, but the alternative was telling MM to completely redesign the game for Ps4.

Why not release it as a PSN title?
360 is gonna outsell the Wii in the US? Heh.
If it declines again this year, after everything Nintendo have thrown out there, they are well and truly up shit creek. They'll need to decide which of their two platforms to save.for reference, December 2012 was 1.2 million, December 2011 was 1.6 million

fuck it im buying tearaway!
Me, too!
...well, as soon as they release the Vita TV. I despise portables. Besides, my Vita's memory card is full, and I'm pissed at Sony for not making remote play work both ways.
What else can they throw at that one though? Another Pokemon? How do they reduce the price when they're at $99?that's obvious, the one that's not in the grave next to the Vita
Tearaway won't work with Vita TV. Buy it now.Me, too!

Time to work on a successor, methinks.
You guys forget about 2ch again, didn't you?

It's doing as well as a handheld can do in this day and age. We will never see another NDS.What else can they throw at that one though? Another Pokemon? How do they reduce the price when they're at $99?

There's a difference between wishing death and seeing it coming a mile away.Ugh... you guys wanted to pick on XB1 numbers so bad but because its actually not bad, people are doubling down on shit talking the WiiU. Come on guys... There's still some fight left in Nintendo. Don't know why people wish death on them so hard
~2.38M.Where was it last year at this time?

The 3DS is at about 2.74M YTD.
Sony can right the Vita ship but Nintendo is done with the Wii U? Yeah, that makes sense.
They're both done.
The 3DS could have a very good December and match it's 1.6M from 2012 and the handheld market would still be pretty screwed.
The PSP, NDS and PSV will end the year with probably a combined million units or so.
The 3DS is at about 2.74M YTD.
About 7.1M handhelds were sold in 2012 in the US.
The only way for the handheld market to not contract further is for the 3DS to sell something like 3.3M systems in December and that's not happening.

Checking 2ch, I guess PS3 424K and Wii U 222K are the numbers to go with.
Sony do have a lot more room to maneuver that Nintendo. Sony could drop the price of both the Vita and the memory cards, pack in some value adds and now they have a decent back catalogue of games, they can use Plus to make it more appealing.
Nintendo on the other hand have pretty much done everything they could. Price drops aren't helping, their biggest hitters aren't helping, there's simply no appeal in the console and that's directly because of how Nintendo have handled the console over the past year not to mention how they handled the last two years of the Wii.
