Err... If you don't understand WHY, then you might have no idea how console wars work. You’re right. Its amazing that Xbox games may actually sell better on Playstation.
Err... If you don't understand WHY, then you might have no idea how console wars work.
Consoles are closed gardens, so if you release a game on a console, the maximum amount of sales is capped by how many people actually own your console. In theory if you make a must-have 1st party game like BotW, you might convince people to buy your console for the game, but that is rare.
PlayStation has a bigger "platform" than Xbox, as in "there is more people who own a PlayStation". This directly translates to more people would could potentially buy a game that is launched.
And with Xbox known to be going third party, people have already jumped ship knowing support for Xbox Series is not long for the world. So overall people wouldn't buy the Xbox version of the same game compared to the MUCH larger pull of customers in PlayStation. Thus. if you release an Xbox game on PlayStation it would sell better than on Xbox.
"But Microsoft told us that Console Sales don't matter!"
Well Microsoft lied. Like they always did. Get used to living in reality.
What does SIE even have slated for this year that isn’t a remaster?
Is it just Ghost of Yōtei and DS2?
They also have Lost Souls Aside coming, Whether something is in-house or not doesn't really matter.DS2 is a 1P publisher but developed by a third party. Aside from Yotei, I don't think there's anything developed in-house on the docket this year, or nothing they've announced yet at least.
Much to the contrary, it will be our finest hour. The future of gaming is going to really suck for fanboy kids, of which GAF has a lot of.
Probably Starfield also, and Elder Scrolls 6, and Doom. Probably going to be a lot more than 2. It's 2 just for April. Sea of Thieves and Grounded both did okay. Virtually everything they put on PS seems to sell except Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, which are both very highly rated and respected niche games. I'm not sure how much Outer Worlds 2 will sell, but could do okay.

Entirely plausible that it could not do well. But I still think it will top the bestseller list on PS5 if it comes out. I don't do bets but I guess we'll see who gets a friendly "I told you so" post. The ship has sailed on Starfield. If they hoped for it to do well on any other platforms then it would have needed to have been released day one in order to dupe playstation/switch 2 purchasers in the same way that they did with people on Steam.
Doom is a day one multiplatform release so I'm not sure where you're going with that one.
The slander of butt stuff is uncalled for hereCuck energy.
"My wife's boyfriend must really like to have sex with my wife, he's screwing her more than his own wife."
Collectors edition = butt stuff
This is kind of sad but true. I can’t think of a single game from Sony that I am looking forward to.Sure, I can see that. Nothing developed in-house to look forward to at the moment on my PS5.![]()
It just means gamers want good games to play.
I was just curious to see if Sony games would fare well on Xbox
Never would have thought I would cross from my bingo card 'Tom Warring shilling for PS sales'![]()

PS5 owners really want to play Xbox games, as Microsoft tops Sony’s preorder charts

For that context yes, but not in terms of the original question of what SIE has slated for the year.?
I'm very specifically talking about things their own studios are developing, of course it matters to the context.
If they really wanted to play them, they would've bought an Xbox by now.
I am so glad I don't give these outlets clicks. Most of them are owned by the same company anyway, they get their marching orders from up high.
The issue here is that the smaller ecosystem means there isn't enough potential new customers to justify the release. Its just that its bizarre that they went from ‘we’re going to outspend Sony out of business’ to ‘lets release our games on Playstation too’ in the space of a year or so.
I was just curious to see if Sony games would fare well on Xbox, but Reckheim is right, probably not at full price.
As you can see over the past few weeks, it absolutely matters now.Aren't these charts revenue-based? We don't know if the $99 versions are the most popular
They also have Lost Souls Aside coming, Whether something is in-house or not doesn't really matter.
I am curious why some folks are being ultra specific now tho.?

It shows that a lot of the console warring over the last several years is completely disingenuous. MS has lots of great games. They have a great subscription service. A lot of PS gamers are just never going to budge or ever move out of their ecosystem, no matter what the competition does. Pretty much what a lot of us have suspected for a while.
Doesn't matter at this point in terms of console warring, but it shows the real motivating factors for consumer behavior.
In-house has been doing alot of heavy lifting lately.
Shocking, isn't it.PS5 owners really want to play games on their PS5...?
The metaphor, yes. The studios, no. Hence the comment
We're also reading that Intergalactic is likely missing 2026, kinda adds to the point. I would like to play a ND game on this gen if possible.
What it shows me is that no matter what MS actually did, it probably would have never worked this generation
Before - PlayStation players play first-party games and third-party games like Call of Duty, Doom, Bethesda games, etc
Now - PlayStation players play first-party games and "Xbox games" like Call of Duty, Doom, Bethesda games, etc

I only ever see it with first parties. If someone is talking about the Square Enix lineup people don't draw a distinction between what is in-house or not.As you can see over the past few weeks, it absolutely matters now.
And now retroactively Ryse Son of Rome, Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break no longer count.
For reasons.
